741 DO - 0 I -:Þ C> ( 0 ORIGINAL 8/28/00 AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, REDWOOD CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT (Redwood City 2000) THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered in this ). 41h day of ~ 2000, by and between the COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, a political subdivision of the ~t¡J of ~alifornia, ("County"); the CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, a municipal corporation of the State of California, ("City"); REDWOOD CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT, an elementary school district, ("Elementary School District"); and SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, a high school district, ("High School District"); all of which entities are referred to collectively as "the Parties." WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that the Parties enter into an agreement to establish Redwood City 2000 to provide oversight to multiple collaborative programs designed to improve the health and quality of life in Redwood City and to provide a forum for collaborative needs assessment and community planning based on the National Civic League Healthy Communities Model: NOW THEREFORE, IN CONSIDERATION OF THE MUTUAL COVENANTS AND CONDITIONS CONTAINED HEREIN, THE PARTIES AGREE AS FOLLOWS: 1. PURPOSE. The Parties are entering into this Agreement for the sole purpose of providing assistance to and allowing the establishment of the Redwood City 2000 program. Redwood City 2000 exists for two major purposes: A. To provide a forum wherein representatives of public entities can work together and with members of the private sector, business and the community at large to improve the quality oflife in Redwood City. B. To provide oversight to the work of ongoing collaboratives within the city that are working toward quality of life improvements. 1
