<br />EXHIBIT B <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />COMPREHENSIVE STREET TREE MAINTENANCE PROJECT <br />SUMMARY OF WORK <br /> <br />1.01 DURATION <br /> <br />A. The City of Redwood City tree maintenance services will cover the period <br />beginning approximately September 1, 2005 and ending approximately October <br />31, 2005. The Contractor will be required to perform said services five (5) days <br />per week and on an "on-call" basis. The Contractor should recognize that a full <br />week work schedule may be reduced by inclement weather or other <br />unanticipated scheduling considerations at the City's discretion. Work shall not <br />normally be assigned on weekends or on such holidays (12 days) regularly <br />recognized by the City work force. <br /> <br />1.02. DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />A. The scope of the work will include a large range of tree maintenance activities, <br />including (but not limited to) tree removals, tree pruning, stump grinding, pest control, <br />and tree planting. The total amount of work for any activity shall be performed on an <br />"as-needed" basis. <br /> <br />B. One crew is expected to perform tree pruning and/or tree removal work for up to 40 <br />hours per week. An additional tree pruning/tree removal crew may be scheduled for <br />up to 80 hours. Multiple crews may be scheduled for pruning, removal, planting, <br />spraying, and stump removal as needed, upon request from the City. The Contractor <br />shall provide the requested crew within two weeks from the date of request. <br />Contractor will work at the hourly rate for the different bid items as specified. <br /> <br />1.03. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS <br /> <br />A. Contractor's equipment, work procedures, and training practices shall comply with <br />ANSI Z133.1. All crew members shall be appropriately certified in EHAP to be able <br />to work in proximity of electrical hazards. The tree climbers shall be WCISA Certified <br />Treeworker or City approved equivalent climbing and work experience. <br /> <br />B. All work to be performed shall be subject to the direct supervision of the Public <br />Works Services Director or his duly appointed representative, and in all respects <br />shall meet with his approval and shall conform with the department's requirements <br />and standards. <br /> <br />C. If requested, Contractor shall furnish statements relative to previous experience on <br />similar work, the plan or procedure proposed and the resources and equipment <br />available for the contemplated work, and any other information deemed necessary <br />by the Public Works Services Director in determining proven competence to perform <br />the work as bid. <br /> <br />D. The successful bidder will be required to enter into an agreement with the City for the <br />term specified, for the rates bid and containing the following requirements: <br /> <br />1. It shall be understood that the Contractor will be required to perform and <br />complete the proposed work in a thorough and competent manner, and to furnish <br />and provide in connection therewith all necessary labor, tools, implements, <br />equipment, materials, and supplies as well as disposal of debris and materials - <br /> <br />Page 1 of 6 <br />
