<br />excepting: tree planting materials ie: stakes, ties, fertilizer and root barriers will <br />be supplied by the City. <br /> <br />2. The City reserves the right to determine the quantity of all work to be performed <br />or furnished under this contract. <br /> <br />1.04 COMPENSATION <br /> <br />A. The contractor will be compensated for time on the job at the work site only. Travel <br />time to and from Redwood City will not be included. Contractor is encouraged to <br />maintain a base of operations within the immediate vicinity. <br /> <br />B. When each assignment is completed and ready for final inspection, the contractor <br />shall so notify the Public Works Services Director. As soon as possible thereafter <br />the Public Works Services Director or his representative will make the necessary <br />inspections to determine that the work has been performed satisfactorily to <br />specifications. Itemized invoices at the agreed upon hourly contract rate shall be <br />submitted to the Public Works Services Director by the last Wednesday of each <br />month for verification and approval. Payment will be processed within approximately <br />two (2) weeks. <br /> <br />1.05 CERTIFIED ARBORIST <br /> <br />A. The Contractor shall employ on a regular full-time, permanent basis a person <br />certified by the International Society of Arboriculture as a "Certified Arborist" at the <br />time of bid submittal, bid award, and for the duration of this contract. <br /> <br />B. Said "Certified Arborist" is to be responsible for the Contractor's crews performing <br />assigned work in accordance with work standards specified by the City; to provide <br />inspections of such work and on site supervision of such crews as necessary to <br />perform the work in a satisfactory manner; and to be readily available to serve as <br />Contractor's representative in routine dealings with the City, (Le. crew scheduling, <br />performance standards, time and material expenditures, and the resolution of such <br />situational disputes as may arise between work crews, the City, and/or the public). <br /> <br />C. No separate or additional payment will be made for the services of the Certified <br />Arborist and his costs are to be included in compensation under other bid items. <br /> <br />1.06 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> <br />A. Pruning and Removal <br /> <br />1. A basic crew shall consist of two (2) climbers each having the experience level of a <br />Certified Tree Worker, one (1) ground worker, one (1) aerial lift truck, 1 dumping chip <br />box, and one brush chipper, and all other necessary tools and equipment (Le. chain <br />saws, climbing lines and saddles, personal safety gear, rigging lines, traffic control <br />devices, etc.) to perform the required work. The Certified Arborist required under <br />paragraph 1.04 may be a regular member of this crew if so desired. <br /> <br />2. All materials generated by the work crews not suitable for firewood shall become the <br />property of the Contractor for proper disposal. Firewood-sized wood shall be <br />stacked neatly and safely on-site for use by Redwood City residents. All State or <br />County Quarantine regulations shall be followed for wood disposal as required. <br /> <br />3. As a minimum, the Contractor shall provide one three-person crew for the duration of <br />the contract. Crews will be routinely assigned to "block pruning" work, in which all <br />street trees along a given block are pruned in succession. However, the crew may <br />be given other pruning or removal assignment at various City locations as the need <br /> <br />Page 2 of 6 <br />
