<br />nO(\ <br />'II 0 <br /> <br />, / <br /> <br /> <br />2. ~etcb-~~tchy Develo~en~ Stat~s -.Mr. Weeks reported they are scþeduled to make <br />a slide presentation to the Planning Commission. Marsha Magness of the Planning <br />Department will be conducting the presentation based upon the proposed land use con- <br />cepts. <br /> <br />Mr. Weeks reviewed the reports and spoke of additional items which have progressed <br />since the report preparation. The lighting at the marina is now underway. The con- <br />tract for Stulsaft Park design is now being reviewed and is to be forwarded to the <br />City Attorney for finalization and eventual presentation to City Council. The staff <br />is reviewing the summer program brochure and it will possibly be published with the <br />City's newsletter. Mr. Weeks also discussed downtown development planning. <br /> <br />Commissioner Guida suggested some interim improvement could be made by planting into <br />the ground the trees that are in boxes located at Middlefield Road and Theater Drive. <br />Commissioner Guida moved, seconded by Commissioner Weintraub, that these trees be <br />planted as an interim measure pending full development. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />Bill Paulson reviewed some of the recreation programs. The city-wide Easter Egg <br />Hunt was being conducted in coordination with merchants and the Fun After 50 group. <br />Mr. Weeks noted the commendation in the newspaper of the Parks Division employees' <br />efforts with spring flower plantings. Commissioner Guida moved to accept the Park <br />& Recreation reports, seconded by Commissioner Pound; motion carried. <br /> <br />Chairman Schenck reintroduced Mrs. Phillips of the College Site Committee who was <br />present to update the information given the Commission concerning the proposed <br />state college park site. She indicated she had received an answer from the City <br />Council relative to the request that the Council would be interested in having the <br />CODIDittee presentation and will notify the Conmittees when the full general plan is <br />to be presented to Council. Chairman Schenck reaffirmed the Commission's support <br />of the Committee efforts. <br /> <br />ROUND TABLE <br /> <br />r 1 J ¡ <br /> <br />Frank Guida attended Youth in Government Day and some points of interest were the <br />open space at Redwood Shores and the Recreation Center being open on Saturday nights. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Diane Pound thanked the Commissioners for the flowers and the department for the <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />card occasioned by the birth of her baby.~ She asked if .t~~ Mobil ~il Estates <br />representative for the development of Redwood Shores could be asked to a meeting. <br />Chairman Schenck indicated this would be investigated. She inquired about the <br />baseball program at Redwood.Shores. Mr. Weeks offered. to contact Belmont schools <br />for coordination of a program to improve the facilities. Commissioner Pound inquired <br />about the feasibility of tetherball courts in the area. The staff will investigate <br />a possible location-and report back. The pedestrian walkway at Ralston overpass <br />cloverleaf was also discussed~ .. <br /> <br />~. Weeks reported the staff was preparing a request for a grant in aid from the <br />State CODIDission on Aging to help support the information and counseling service <br />for the seniors in the community. It was also mentioned that the Department <br />Secretary will be reporting May 1. <br /> <br /> <br />Chairman Schenck inquired about the removal of the barrier .near the caboose at <br />Community Park. It was reported this will be removed as a part of the Phase I <br />caĆtruction to be initiated this spring. . <br /> <br />. .. <br /> <br />Chairman Schenck thanked Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Phillips for attending the meeting. <br /> <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:17 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />-,~.._-~ <br /> <br />--- ,_.- <br />
