Marsha Magness of the Planning Department will be conducting the presentation based upon the proposed land use con- cepts. Mr. Weeks reviewed the reports and spoke of additional items which have progressed since the report preparation. The lighting at the marina is now underway. The con- tract for Stulsaft Park design is now being reviewed and is to be forwarded to the City Attorney for finalization and eventual presentation to City Council. The staff is reviewing the summer program brochure and it will possibly be published with the City's newsletter. Mr. Weeks also discussed downtown development planning. Commissioner Guida suggested some interim improvement could be made by planting into the ground the trees that are in boxes located at Middlefield Road and Theater Drive. Commissioner Guida moved, seconded by Commissioner Weintraub, that these trees be planted as an interim measure pending full development. Motion carried. Bill Paulson reviewed some of the recreation programs. The city-wide Easter Egg Hunt was being conducted in coordination with merchants and the Fun After 50 group. Mr. Weeks noted the commendation in the newspaper of the Parks Division employees' efforts with spring flower plantings. Commissioner Guida moved to accept the Park & Recreation reports, seconded by Commissioner Pound; motion carried. Chairman Schenck reintroduced Mrs. Phillips of the College Site Committee who was present to update the information given the Commission concerning the proposed state college park site. She indicated she had received an answer from the City Council relative to the request that the Council would be interested in having the CODIDittee presentation and will notify the Conmittees when the full general plan is to be presented to Council. Chairman Schenck reaffirmed the Commission's support of the Committee efforts. ROUND TABLE r 1 J ¡ Frank Guida attended Youth in Government Day and some points of interest were the open space at Redwood Shores and the Recreation Center being open on Saturday nights. - Diane Pound thanked the Commissioners for the flowers and the department for the . card occasioned by the birth of her baby.~ She asked if .t~~ Mobil ~il Estates representative for the development of Redwood Shores could be asked to a meeting. Chairman Schenck indicated this would be investigated. She inquired about the baseball program at Redwood.Shores. Mr. Weeks offered. to contact Belmont schools for coordination of a program to improve the facilities. Commissioner Pound inquired about the feasibility of tetherball courts in the area. The staff will investigate a possible location-and report back. The pedestrian walkway at Ralston overpass cloverleaf was also discussed~ .. ~. Weeks reported the staff was preparing a request for a grant in aid from the State CODIDission on Aging to help support the information and counseling service for the seniors in the community. It was also mentioned that the Department Secretary will be reporting May 1. Chairman Schenck inquired about the removal of the barrier .near the caboose at Community Park. It was reported this will be removed as a part of the Phase I caœtruction to be initiated this spring. . . .. Chairman Schenck thanked Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Phillips for attending the meeting.
