<br />...,,- <br /> <br />221 <br /> <br />Chairman Schenck commended the Park Department for the trees they planted in front <br />of the YMCA. However, many Commissioners were distressed because of the trees which <br />were cut down on the corner of Roosevelt and Hudson. These trees were damaging pri- <br />vate property and had to be removed. They will be replaced with more desirable trees. <br /> <br /> <br />The Tree Preservation Ordinance, commonly known as the Heri,.tage Tree Ordinanc" - was <br />discussed. It was pointed out that there is a need for a re-evaluation of the various <br />te~s and conditions in this ordinance, particularly as it relates to definite species <br />of trees being designated as Heritage trees. It was wlso felt that a clear definition <br />should be established so as to separate Heritage trees from those which would simply be <br />retained because of size and shape. Cha~rman Schenck felt that the Operational Policy <br />Committee should review with the staff the provisions of this ordinance in the hopes <br />of arriving at proposals for improvements. <br /> <br />There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Commissioner Weintraub, <br />seconded by Commissioner Guida, to adjourn; motion carried.
