Chairman Schenck requested clarification on some of the items. <br />Commissioner Weintraub commented that with regard to Stafford Park, the Committee had <br />considered relocation of play areas because of the safety of the tot lots--mothers could <br />better watch their children at play and be more comfortable. It was suggested to add <br />an Item 5 to II.A of the Proposed Scope of Work which would read, "Establish neighbor- <br />hood-type picnic facilities." Commissioner Weintraub also suggested rustic signs throug <br />out the parks. An Item 6 was also suggested which would read, "Area Lighting.1I <br /> <br /> <br />Chairman Schenck asked if one firm will handle the design of all the parks or if sev- <br />eral firms would be involved. It was indicated that one firm would be used. The park <br />areas are all very small and it would not be especially economical or practical to have <br />several architects working on them. However, each park will be ~esigned to have its <br />own character and purpose. <br /> <br />Upon the conelusion of the Commission's discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner <br />Weintraub, seconded by Commissioner Pound, that the Parks ~ Recreation Commission <br />accept the proposed scope of work for the neighborhood parks and the recommended cont <br />sultant and recommends to the City Council approval of the Scope of Work and requests <br />permission to proceed with negotiating a contract with the firm of Singer ~ Hodges <br />Landscape Architects for the proposed site planning. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Commissioner Guida <br />Commissioner Knecht <br />Commissioner Pound <br />Chairman Schenck <br />Commissioner Weintraub <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Commissioner Haynes <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />!TEM _2 -1 DJis~u~slon R~}.~ltH~e n~!' ~~es~~he!ulJi!lLTJ~intí Mee~t1inL1W! ~h t~e Ci £1 Co~~cil <br /> <br />Discussions were held relevant to possible topics to be discussed with the City Council <br />at the proposed Council/Commission Joint Meeting. It was suggested that a review be <br />given to the Council relative to the Committee structure, goals and objectives and ac- <br />complishments thus far this fiscal year. Other topics which were suggested for agenda <br />items were Forty-Niner utilization of Community Park area, the status of the Armory <br />Building in Community Park, and the long range objectives of the City Council relative <br />to Parks ~ Recreation services. <br /> <br /> <br />During the discussion, it was suggested that the Commission initiate a review of the <br />various contracts, leases, and agreements which have been consumated over the past <br />several years. It was determined that this review would be initiated in the Opera- <br />tional Policies Committee. The staff indicated that compilation of these documents would <br />be accomplished for review by the Committee. Mr. Weeks suggested that all agreements <br /> <br />, <br /> <br /> <br />be reviewed before year end. <br /> <br />It was suggested that the Commission meet with the City Council October 27. The <br />Commissioners agreed and the staff will check with the City Clerk the availability of <br />this date. <br /> <br />
