<br />225 <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - Slide Presentation <br /> <br />J .J1 I I -.I Jl 1 <br /> <br /> <br />The slide presentation was given by Thomas Ferrando on the various activities offered <br />through the Parks ~ Recreation Department. This presentation was an example of the type <br />of information the department is preparing for communicating with the public. Ultimate <br />. objective is a slide library which covers all services supplied by the Deparbment. <br />A Deparbment "Speakers Bureau" will be established which will be available to deliver <br />presentations. -'emmi~si~ners and staff will be involved. <br /> <br />REPORTS <br /> <br />~TEM 1 -_p~siS~l~IDe!~tPpment Commi~te~ <br /> <br />Chai~n Weintraub reviewed the Design ~ Development Committee report with the Commission <br />and there was no further action to be taken at this time. <br /> <br />IT~M 2 - ~pen ~ae~el Comm1ittee <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Chai~an Knecht discussed the progress being made by the Open Space Committee relative <br />to locating possible park sites in the priority neighborhoods. It was indicated that <br />in most cases the various neighborhoods were lacking in vacant property and that in <br />order to arrive at suitable sites, existing dwellings and structures become involved. <br />The Committee will continue to study alternate possibilities for locating future parks <br />and will also explore the possibility of establishing Willing Seller Programs in these <br />areas which may assist in the purchase of future park sites. It was indicated the com- <br />mittee will be reporting in further detail concerning these alternatives as their stu- <br />dies continue. <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />IT~ ~ r~ C~tmluni ty P~rkt. Commi t_te~~ <br /> <br />Committee Chairman Guida reported that the Committee had established a tentative listing <br />of priority projects to be considered in Phase 2 and 3. Data relevant to the baseball <br />lighting, fence location, tennis lighting, etc., was also considered by the Cpmmittee. <br />It was indicated that this lighting would be completed soon and recommendations would <br />be forthcoming to the Commission for the next phase of construction for Community Park. <br />Chai~an Schenck inquired about the time factor of the present construction and was <br />info~ed that even though there had been some delay by the grading contractor, it was <br />felt that the project would be moved ahead towards completion prior to the rainy season. <br />It was reported that the Public Works Department had not as yet indicated any extension <br />of the contract; however, this may become necessary if delay continues. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - Commission Relations Committee <br /> <br />U l '11 r ~ lL 11 1 l r <br /> <br /> <br />The proposed attendance clause was discussed. It was suggested that a Commissioner call <br />the Chairman if he was unable to attend a meeting. This would allow the Chairman to <br />adjourn the meeting for lack of a quorum if the minimum amount of Commissioners were not <br />going to be available at the meeting. Commissioner Pound stated that the Commission <br />also needed all its members present to do the best possible job for the City of Red- <br />wood City. Mr. Weeks spoke with the City Attorney's office concerning specific term- <br />inology of any proposed ordinance change.
