<br />_~5 <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />REDWOOD CITY PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />November 14, 1973 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular business meeting was opened at 7:32 PM by Chairman Larry Schenck at the <br />Community Activities Building, l4QO RoĊ“evelt Avwnue, Redwood City. <br /> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Chairman Larry Schenck, Commissioners Frank Guida, <br />Reuben Haynes (left at (:35 PM), James Knecht, Allan <br />Rollins, and Joanne Weintraub. <br /> <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />Commissioner Diane Pound (called in sick) <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Max C. Weeks, Director; Pasco Balzarini, Park Superintendent; <br />Bill Paulson, Recreation Superintendent; Bill Wooten, Super- <br /> <br /> <br />. <br />Visor <br /> <br />GAP STUDENTS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Margaret Deto, Donna Baldini, Peggy Saekman, Kevin Kane <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br /> <br />Fun After Fifty Members John Flavio Sr. and William Morrissey <br /> <br />The Minutes of the October 10, 1973 regular business meeting were approved on a motion <br />by Commissioner Guida, seconded by Commissioner Rollins. <br /> <br />Chairman Schenck welcomed the GAP students and requested they join in with their opin- <br /> <br />. <br />ions. <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />1. Fun After Fifty Club letter dated November 13, 1973 requesting Commission support <br />on the Club's efforts to acquire Linclon School or another favorable school. <br /> <br />Mr. Morrissey spote of the need the Seniors have for a facility of their own, explain- <br />ing tþat the Little House in ~'Menlo Park now has 2,500 members. The Fun After Fifty <br />Club has 900 members, AARP (American Association of Retired Peæsons) has 500 members, <br />Fair Oaks Community Center has 100 Seniors, etc. Many of the Commissioners gave their <br />verbal support. Mr. Weeks suggested the Program Committee follow through and obtain <br />more necessary data. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Weintraub moved that the Parks & Recreation Commission go on re- <br />cord as supporting the efforts of the Senior Citizens of Redwood City to research the <br />possibilities for obtaining adequate facilities for all of the activities of the Sen- <br />iors. Seconded by Commissioner Guida. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />Commissioners Guida, Haynes, Knecht, Rollins, Schenck and Weintraub. <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />2. The letter from Canada College was read inviting members to attend the concert on <br />November 18 at 8:15 PM. <br /> <br />
