Discussions were
held regarding the Open Space Committee's recommendations on possible park site
acquisition. The Middlefield Neighborhood was given top priority and the question
was raised regarding the Santa Clara property and its place on the priority list.
It was indicated that it had a lower priority at this time because it is outside
the City Limits, belongs to the School District, and there is a greater need for
neighborhood parks existing in the area as proposed by the Open Space Committee.
It was agreed that the staff would further investigate this site with the School
District in order to ascertain their future plans for the site.

Commissioner Rollins moved to accept the report as written, seconded
by Commissioner Knecht.

Ayes:

Commissioners Guida, Haynes, Knecht, Rollins, Pound and Weintraub

Nays:

None

Motion carried.

REPORTS

ITEM 1 - ~~n Space Committee

The Open Space Committee report dealing with the priorities and acquisition program
for neighborhood parks was discussed and acted upon as indicated above in Agenda
Item Number 2.

ITEM 2 - .Qpen S{)ace Element -:~General P1al!

Mr. Weeks reported for Commissioner Schenck that the City Council was very
receptive to the input from the Parks & Recreation Commission and the Cultural
Commission. The City Council also indicated
a great deal more study needed to be made, would be made, and they were emphatic
that they did want the Commissioners to be involved with the Plannning Commission
in these studies.

ITEM 3 - MonthfY ~eports

A. ~art~e:nt.
