No report was made. r C. Other 1. Bocci Ball Court Improvement~. Several different approaches were explored as to ~proving the facilities. However, the bocci ball players felt the natural wood finishes rather than painted surfaces would better serve the needs of the game. Mr. Weeks suggested renovation of the courts during the next phase of construction if funding allowed. 2. District IV !wards Ba~~uet. It was announced the banquet would be held January 19 in San Jose. 3. Historical P~eservation Mee~in&. Mr. Gyselbrecht is Chairing a staff team of the Historical Preservation Committee and the Commission was very receptive to hearing a report from them at the February Commission meeting. Staff will arrange for this presentation. 4. Hassler Letter. It was suggested that the Commission's priorities could be transmitted to the county along with the Commission's interest in the preservation of open space. Additional discussion of this matter brought out the possibility that a Commission letter to the Board of Supervisors might not be compatible with the Council's efforts relative to priorities and the proposed use of State Park Bond Funds. Consequently, it was felt any recommendation to the County should be from the Council upon the recommendation of the Commission. Upon completion of the discussion it was moved by Commissioner Knecht, seconded by Commissioner Pound, that the Commission resind the action taken December 12,1973, to communicate with the County Board of Supervisors regarding the Hassler property. Motion carried. It was moved by Commissioner Rollins, seconded by Commissioner Pound, that the reports be accepted. Motion carried. Commissioner Rollins requested receiving a copy of the Port Commission agenda and minutes each month. Staff will request this be sent to h~. Commissioner Haynes requested some information regarding the Municipal Career Program. Bill Paulson discussed the program mentioning that it is designed to train people for entry level positions. Once trained, that person could enter right into the position without further examinations if a position was available. Commissioner Schenck arrived and mentioned his talk with the Mayor. The Joint Meeting is scheduled for February 21 (Thursday) and he stated that the Council preferred not to meet on a Saturday. Topics to be discussed will be committees, organization, priorities, goals, and capital ~provements. The Commission will request feedback from the Council on developing properties outside the city limits yet within the planning area of the City.
