<br />. :-6S <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Commissioner Schenck moved to accept the Department monthly reports as <br />amended, seconded by Commissioner Wilson. <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Other Reports - Oral Reports from General Plan Task Force <br /> <br />Commissioner Pound - Conservation Task Force <br /> <br />Commissioner Pound reported that information has been gathered by the task force <br />including City goals, the Citizens Advisory Group data, natural features data. <br />Emerald Hills, Historic Buildings, Waterfront Plan, San Francisco Bay National <br />Wildlife Refuge, etc., and reviewed. They also toured the college site, Stulsaft <br />Park, the Bay, historical buildings/sites in Downtown Redwood City. The Task <br />Force now has a working copy of the General Plan which they are reviewing including <br />their deletions and additions. Commissioner Pound felt this method was extremely <br />useful and the Task Force was making a, great deal of progress. Commissioner Pound <br />added that she has met quite a few residents who are active in the City and she was <br />pleased to find there is such an interest in what is happening in Redwood City. <br />She explained that they were especially concerned with the historical sites in <br />Redwood City and requested reviewing a model. Commissioner Pound had some photo- <br />graphs of a model and contacted a member of the Civic Cultural Commission request- <br />ing this be put on their agenda and further requested Mr. Jensen (builder of the <br />model) attend the meeting and present it. Mr. Weeks indicated the matter was <br />discussed at the Cultural Commission but that there was a question as to its <br />authenticity. Commissioner Pound explained that Mr. Jensen would probably donate <br />the model, which was his rendition of old Redwood City. Commissioner Rollins <br />wondered if the model could be put on display at the County Historical Museum. <br />Commissioner Pound further suggested a historical map be placed on the advertis- <br />ing directory planned for the Downtown improvement. Commissioner Rollins <br />suggested a "footprint" path be created going from one historical site to the next. <br /> <br />Chairperson Weintraub - Land Use Task Force <br /> <br />Chairperson Weintraub discussed the progress of the Task Force and read her <br />revised copy of the Environmental Goals and Principals of the Land Use Elemen~ <br />to the Commission which basically brought them up-to-date on the accomplishment <br />of the Task Force. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wilson - Housing <br /> <br />Commissioner Wilson indicated that the Task Force took last year's General Plan <br />on Housing and reviewed and revised it. The Task Force is now reworking the <br />obstacles and he felt when completed, the report would be very concise. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wilson and Commissioner Schenck - San Diego Conference <br /> <br />Commissioner Schenck mentioned the problem with the fog in San Diego which inter- <br />fered with the Conference in that many speakers were several hours late along <br />with many of the participants. Commissioner Schenck felt the Conference was <br />again very worthwhile and well attended. One off the most interesting sessions <br />Commissioner Schenck attended was entitled "New Games", which included a book on <br />the subject as well as a movie.
