"" .. . , .,' <br /> <br />attempt to avoid violating the Brown Act. <br /> <br />Chairwoman Weintraub thanked Attorney Schricker for his information pre- <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />sentation and discussion. <br /> <br />Chairwoman Weintraub introduced the GAP students from Sequoia High School <br />and invited them to participate in the discussion. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM 2 - Discussion - ~roposed Joint Meeting with Cj~9 Council <br /> <br />Mr. Weeks indicated he had discussed with the City Clerk the possibility of <br />establishing a joint meeting of the City Council and the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission. The City Clerk in turn will contact the Mayor and the City <br />Council. The Clerk felt that perhaps a meeting might be arranged by June <br />or July. <br /> <br />REPORT ITEM 1 - Budget & Ca~j~al Improvem~nt Committee <br /> <br />Mr. Weeks mentioned that the planning and preliminary estimates were pre- <br />pared which enables the Commission to look at specific projects. Priorities <br />of areas and projects can now be taken into consideration and extended over <br />a five year period. Mr. Weeks further indicated, that because of the need <br />to defer Stulsaft and Canyon parks because of budgetary constraints and <br />maintenance constraints in the next fiscal year, the.'.-Department will extend <br />those projects into next year and reevaluate them for future five year plans. <br />The current five year plan was prepared and submitted prior to the need to <br />defer Stulsaft and Canyon parks. <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Weeks further indicated that he spoke with-~,the City Controller today <br />with regard to the Capital Improvement Program. The Manage~ent Team and <br />the Budget Team have both reviewed the program and have indicated in a <br />tentative way that the City Manager will probably be recommending in his <br />budget to proceed with the Red Morton Community Park project for $279,000, <br />the Mezes Park project for $49,000, the Palm Park project for $32,000 and <br />the small automatic sprinkler replacement project. Stulsaft and Canyon <br />parks will be deferred for this coming fiscal year unless there are changes <br />in priorities in the discussion with the City Council. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Commissioner Schenck moved, seconded by Commissioner Pound, that <br />the report be accepted and the staff commended for their out- <br />standing efforts and hard work. <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />
