<br />= .~. 7. -~ 7 7 <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br /> <br />The goal of the organization is to develop American youth in body and <br />character through the game of soccer. With AYSO there are open sign-ups, <br />everyone plays, and all teams are balanced at the start of the season. <br />AYSO is a non-profit organization. All officials, referees, and coaches <br />are volunteers. Over 43,000 youth in California are presently playiilgwith <br />AYSO and 12,000 are girls. The cost to the youth is $15 per child for <br />uniforms and insurance per season (six months). <br /> <br />Chairwoman Weintraub thanked Mr. Niswander for the informative presentation. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM 3 - Nominating Committee A~intments <br /> <br />Chairwoman Weintraub appointed Commissioners Wilson, Rollins, and Knecht <br />as the Nominating Committee, with Commissioner Wilson as Chairman. The <br />election of new officers will be held at the regular business meeting in <br />June 1975. <br /> <br />MONTHLY REPORTS <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />~artmental Monthly Reports <br /> <br />Mr. Weeks mentioned that the bids for Mezes Park have been received <br />and the low base bid was approximately $45,000. The Department's <br />estimete on the base bid was $60,000; therefore, the four work units <br />will also be accomplished in that it will be possible to stay within <br />the funds allocated for the project. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rollins moved to accept the Department Monthly Reports <br />as written, seconded by Commissioner Wilson. The motion carried <br />unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Other Reports <br /> <br />Mr. Weeks gave a report on the Palm Park Plan and displayed the Master <br />Plan submitted by Singer & Hodges. The total cost of construction of <br />the park is estimated at $108,000. The first phase is budgeted for <br />fiscal year 1975-76 and is estimated at approximately $38,500. <br />Mr. Weeks also mentioned the park will be designed with two or three <br />alternatives. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wilson moved to accept the Palm Park Master Plan as <br />submitted and recommended acceptance by the City Council, seconded <br />by Commissioner Schlesinger. The motion carried unanimously by <br /> <br />. <br />vo~ce vote. <br /> <br /> <br />REPORT ITEM 2 - Committee Scheduling <br /> <br />A tentative field trip was set up for June 17 (TUesday) to view Big Toys. <br />Commissioners will leave the C.A.B. at 1:00 PM. The June meeting will be <br />adjourned to the field trip. <br /> <br />
