~-=.. ...::. ~.-.. -

, 85

the same; however, there is general misunderstanding as the methods
and procedures whereby the plan would be accpmplished. It was agreed that
further discussion and continuing communications would be most beneficial
and that there was sufficient time to clarify the various misunderstandings
as well as the differences of opinion. It was pointed out that the staff,
as well as the Commission, were always available to meet with the Committee
as well as any other interested parties with respect to the concepts as
proposed in the General Plan. Committee Chairwoman Weintraub reported that
the Design & Development Committee no longer were considering Stulsaft Park
as a top priority item resultant from the lack of funds to proceed with
the development work. However, they would be pleased to continue dis-
cussion with the Committee for Natural Stulsaft over the next several months.
It was concluded that another meeting will be scheduled with both Committees
together with the landscape architect consultant T~d Osmundson to tour the
park and discuss some of the basic concerns with respect to the concepts
for the long range improvement of the park.

REPORT ITEM 2 - Program Committee

Program Committee Chairman Rollins reported that the Program Committee
met on May 27,1975 to review the proposed summer program mailer and
discuss the teen activities for Redwood Shores and the summer soccer
league being formed in the target area and to be conducted at Garfield
School. It was reported that the summer brochure was ready for the press,
after which it would be mailed to the residences. The Committee reviewed
the brochure and the program format and concurred with the mailing of the
brochure as presented.

.

Recreation Superintendent Paulson reported that the teen program supervisors
would be working with the playground leaders in Redwood Shores this summer
in order to attempt to work out teen programs to be conducted in the Redwood
Shores area. Additionally, it was hopeful that methods could be worked
out to include the Redwood Shores teens into many of the activities which
originate at the Red Morton Recreation Center. Comrndssioner Pound indicated
that she felt there was a possibility for transportation to the Recreation
Center which could be provided by parents of the teens for special acti-
vities at the Center. It was concluded that the DepartInent' steen
specialist would attempt to establish a few meetings with teens in the
Redwood Shores area to discuss programming possibilities.

Mr. Paulson also reported on a new soccer league which was being formed
in the target area as a result of his work with some representatives in
the area. The DepartInent is assisting with the organization of the league;
however, in that the activity will be conducted outside the City limits,
the minor funding necessary for the league (approximately $150), will be
furnished by community civic clubs. The sign-ups for the league and the
promotion necessary will be taking place at the Fair Oaks Community Center.
