They suggested other Commissions also do the same and
if there was an interest, the Superintendent of Parks (City of San Mateo)
should be contacted. Mr. Weeks indicated he would investigate further.

Tank - Mezed Park

T

Mr. Weeks indicated that the consensus at the Design & Development Committee was
to proceed with phase two construction around the tank, leaving it as is for the
time being and painting it a dark olive green. Commissioner Weintraub felt the
tank was inappropriate for the park.. Commissioner Rollins mentioned that after
World War II the United State Government indicated that there was an abundance of
war material that could be donated for historical displays. The Veterans of
Foreign Wars requested that a tank be placed outside their meeting room as a
constant reminder of the sacrifices of the men in the war. Their meeting room
was at that time located in what is now Mezes Park and as a result, the tank is still
there. Mr. Weeks indicated the tank's presence was not critical to the completion of
the park. Chairman Knecht indicated that he and Commissioners Rollins and Schlesinger
would investigate the future of the tank with the veteran's organization.

ADJOURNMENT

MOTION:

There being no further business, Commissioner Weintraub
moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Commissioner
Pound.
