-

120

Mr. Weeks mentioned that if time allowed, the Commission might want to discuss
any change in Capital Improvements for the coming year with the City Council.

MONTHLY REPORTS

Commissioner Schlesinger requested some information about the work being done on
McGarvey baseball fiedl. Mr. Weeks explained that the field in nát scheduled for
use through the winter and that the contractor did start final preparation of the
infield this week. There is very little left for completion. There is some
question between the architect and the contractor with regard to the construction
of the park name sign; however, this is being resolved. There is also a problem
with the completion of the tennis courts due to cold weather. In order to put the
final coats on the tennis courts, the moisture and temperature must be right.
It is likely that the courts will be opened for temporary play during the winter and
final surfaces will be applied in spring. Aside from a few minor problems, for all
practical purposes phase two construction is nearly completed.

Mr. Weeks explained that he had a review with the consultants with regard to Redwood
Shores Park plans. The site paIns are complete; however, there appears to be a
rather major problem concerning the distribution of funds for the various phases.
Soil analysis will be completed in order to determine if the sale water intrusion
problem can be resolved without tile drainage, which will have a major affeet on how
far available funds will go (approximately $78,OQO is involved). Mr. Weeks stated
taht they are fairly hopeful that underground drainage will not be necessary.

With refeyencee to the parking lot in phase three for Red Morton Community Park
Mr. Weeks mentioned that the Public Works Department has agreed to handle the design
and construction of the parking lot in-house. It will probably be late spring
before construction will be underway.

MOTION:

Commissioner Pound moved to accept the Departmental monthly reports
seconded by Commissioner Weintraub. The motion carried .unan~ously by

.
vOJ.ce vote.

ROUND TABLE:

Commissioner Aldrich mentioned that she was disappointed with the League of
California Cities Conference held in San Francisco. Commissioner Pound agreed.
A discussion took place of the feasibility of obtaining tapes of protions of the
conference that might be'of interest for the Commission. This will be investigated.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, Commissioner Weintraub moved to adjourn the
meeting, seconded by Commissioner Wilson. The motion carried unanimously by voice
vote and the meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
