" <br /> <br /> <br />. -' <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25, 1990 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Comm;ss;oRers Swope, Dav;s, Costelli, <br />Mortensen and Slusser <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br />GUESTS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Commissioners Howard and Nordness <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Parks, Recreation and 'Community Services <br />Director Griffiths and Secretary Nemes <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order at 7:35 p.m. by Acting Chairperson Commissioner Swope in Room 5, <br />Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, CA.. <br /> <br />00- >'.co--, <br /> <br />Correspondence <br /> <br />". <br /> <br />'I-, <br /> <br />, ". <br /> <br />Director Griffiths stated that~there was no correspondence. <br />Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />The minutes of the March Park and Recreation Commission were approved as <br />amended wi th the fo 11 owi ng changes. '~ <br /> <br />Page 2, paragraph 3 reg'arding Mr. Sibleyls presentation should be amended <br />to read: Messrs. Sibley presented their position and responded to <br />questions about the driving range operations. <br /> <br />Page 3, paragraph 3 should read: After hearing from the general public, <br />the Commission discussed the proposal Commissioner Slusser suggested IIthat <br />there was an absolute need for this type of recreational activity and that <br />we should consider relocating or reallocating others~ace for this type <br />of activity. <br /> <br />Page 3, paragraph 6 relative to Commissioner Swope1s suggestion that <br />Commissioner Mortensen1s motion, (preceding paragraph on page 3), be <br />divided into two motions. Commissioner Mortensen agreed and made the <br />motion that the Commission go on record against supporting a swap of <br />parklands for the driving range. The motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Nordness and carried by an lJayell vote of 6-0. Commissioner Mortensen made <br />the motion lito develop a sub-committee of interested parties to look into <br />the possibility of extending the current closure deadline for the driving <br />range and to examining other alternatives, i. e., relocating, purchasing or <br />condemning other properties suitable for a driving rangell. Commissioner <br />Nordness seconded the motion and the Commission voted 6-0 to approve the <br />proposal and forward the recommendation to the City Council. <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />-ITEM - I PARCOURSE - REDWOOD SHORES <br /> <br />Commissioner Slusser gave a verbal presentation.
