<br />. <br /> <br />/ <br /> <br />-Commissioner Davis commented on the value of Julie Hannon1s volunteer <br />coach basketball program. He suggested putting together a IIHow to Coach" <br />program for parents and volunteers. <br /> <br />MATTERS OF COMMISSION INTEREST <br /> <br />-Commissioner Castelli stated that this would be his last meeting and <br />wanted to thank the Commissioners for the experience he gained on the <br />Commission. <br /> <br />-Chairperson Hardness inquired about the Water Committee1s Report prepared <br />by Councilman Greenalch. Councilman Murray said that it will be presented <br />at the May 6 City Council meeting. He spoke about the public use category <br />and that the City Council wanted Parks to get 80% water use and wanted also <br />to preserve the public infrastructure. Councilman Murray suggested that if <br />the Commission wanted to help. they should contact their councilmembers and <br />encourage them to vote for the recommendation. <br /> <br />-Superintendent Hartman announced the 20th Anniversary Celebration for the <br />Civic Cultural Commission to be held May 19 and that a proclamation will be <br />read at the May 6 City Council meeting. She also announced an uin-housell <br />irrigation seminar that was held today for all gardening staff. The <br />seminar. which lasted 4-5 hours. was to further train gardeners on the <br />latest ways to save water throughout the park system. The seminar was <br />arranged by Senior Park Craftworker Ode Touye and was conducted by various <br />vendors at no charge to the City. The seminar was a very high quality <br />program and was well received by staff. Superintendent Hartman also noted <br />that Administrative Analyst Ramon Aguilar has been analyzing all water <br />meter usage for the department. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Davis distributed t'he new Civic Cultural Commission brochure <br />and asked if the Park and Recreation Commission would consider producing a <br />similar type of brochure. Superintendent Hartman explained the process the <br />Cultural Commission followed to complete this project. The Commissioners <br />requested that this matter be placed on the May agenda to be discussed <br />further. <br /> <br />-Councilman Murray inquired about all the dead trees in Redwood Shores and <br />hoped there was a plan in place to remove and replace the trees. This <br />matter will be placed on the May agenda for further discussion. <br /> <br />-Superintendent Hartman explained that the department will be implementing a <br />IISatisfaction Guaranteedll program for all our special interest classes in the <br />fall of 1991. Under program guidelines. clients would be eligible to receive <br />a refunds or credit on their registration fees regardless of the reason. She <br />said that other cities who have implemented this policy have seen increased <br />registration and revenue as well as improved public image. The Commission <br />will be advised of further details when they are available. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was adjourned at <br />9:45 p.m. to be reconvened on Wednesday, May 22, 1991 at 7:30 p.m. at the <br />Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City. <br />California. <br /> <br />
