He said that articles about Union Cemetery and the clean-up have appeared in the San Mateo Times, the Times Tribune and the Menlo Park Almanac. He anticipates that the laser survey will be done within the next 2-3 weeks and maps will be ready by mid-February after which time it will take Peak & Associates about 11/2 months to perform the work. After Peak & Associates are finished, the next step will be to complete the work Peak & Associates has proposed, after which all archeological information will need to be recorded. A Cultural Plan will then be developed and put into a format which can be used to apply for grants. Commissioner Swope and Director Griffiths mentioned that they each attended an Archives Committee meeting and noted that the Committee voted.to release their address listing of living descendants of Union Cemetery. Director Griffiths said the department currently has a mailing list and that the Archivesl list would be helpful to organize a complete listing. Chairperson Nordness commended Commissioner Swope for all her hard work on Union Cemetery. ITEM 2 - Nomination/Election of 1992 Commission Officers " The Nominating Committee, consisting of Commissioners Howard and Swope, met and reported that they have nominated Commissioner Slusser as chairperson and Commissioner Davis as vice chairperson of the Parks & Recreation Commission for 1992-93. MIS Mortensen/Truscelli: To close the nominations for the offices of chairperson and vice chairperson of the Park and Recreation Commission. Motion passed. The Commission voted unanimously to elect Bob Slusser as chairperson and Don Davis as vice chairperson of the Park & Recreation Commission for 1992-93. Chairperson Hordness thanked everyone for their support during his term. Commissioner Mortensen thanked Chairperson Nordness for his work as chairperson of the Commission this past year. Commissioner Slusser thanked the Commission for electing him and said he will begin working on an action plan for the coming year. Chairperson Hordness relinquished the gavel to Commissioner Slusser who presided over the remainder of the meeting. ITEM 3 - CPRS Conference Director Griffiths announced that the CPRS Conference would be held in Long Beach on March 5-8 and that the department has budgeted for two Commissioners to attend. Commissioners Nordness, Swope and Howard all indicated they would be interested in attending. Chairperson Slusser said he would contact Commissioner Davis to see if he was interested in attending and would coordinate with the rest of Commissioners to determine who would be going.
