¡ " ... ITEM 4 - Marlin Park Commissioner Hordness inquired about the complaint received from Mrs. Davis concerning the placement of the fire engine play equipment at Marlin Park. Director Griffiths explained that more than 100 trees were removed from this park due to frost damage and since Mrs. Davis's house is across the street from the park, her view was changed considerably. Since the fire engine is now in her view, Mrs. Daivs wants to have it removed. Director Griffiths said that several compliments have been received from the public regarding the fire engine at Marlin Park and a petition of concerned citizens was also received in support of the placement of the fire engine so it was decided to leave the fire engine where it is. Director Griffiths said there are future plans to replant replacement trees at Marlin Park. ITEM 5 - Park Tour with City Council A discussion was held regarding whether or not the Commission should continue its practice of holding an annual park tour since the last tour was cancelled due to lack of a quorum. Several suggestions were made as to how and when to hold a prospective park tour. Saturday, May 2 was selected by the Commissioners as a possible date. Director Griffiths indicated that a memo will be sent to the City Council to determine what they would like to see in a park tour/study session and when to schedule the event. It was suggested that all Commissioners'bring their ideas about the park tour/study session including department needs and be prepared to discuss them at the February meeting. ' ' COMMITTEE REPORTS -Commissioner Truscelli said she was impressed by the monthly reports produced each month by staff and- the activities being done by each section. -Commissioner Swope said she will meet with Commissioner Mortensen to work on plans for a Commission brochure very soon. -Commissioner Nordness announced that the delegation from our Sister City, Zhuha;, China, spent an entire week in our city. He explained that Recreation Supervisor Mary Kucala gave the group a tour of the Veterans Memorial Senior Center and also had lunch there. The group was very impressed with the reception they received while visiting. -Commissioner Mortensen reported that the Port of Redwood City now has its own local art which is a train locomotive. -Commissioner Howard inquired about the ADA and Section 504 Committee and requested an update. Director Griffiths said he would forward a copy of the Section 504 Committee recommendations to each Commissioner. She also inquired about a Commissioner's Handbook and Director Griffiths explained that a draft of the handbook has just been completed and one would be sent to each Commissioner for their review and comments. -Chairperson Slusser said he was impressed by Assistant Center Supervisor Blondino's report on the IILock-in nitell event which had an attendance of 45 youngsters. He also congratulated Therapeutic Coordinator Erlinda Tul;oc on the birth of her baby.
