<br />ji <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Davis thanked Assistant Center Supervisor Mike Blondino for his <br />acknowledgement of his idea to visit NASA. He said that if Mike could send <br />him something in writing, he will forward to the proper person at NASA. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli was interested to hear that customers can now use <br />their credit card to pay for recreation classes. She was very impressed with <br />the number of volunteer hours donated at the Senior Center. She also noted <br />that effective March 1, 1992, all meals for the Senior lunch program will <br />come from Little House in Menlo Park rather than Chope Hospital. <br /> <br />-Chairperson Slusser asked Director Griffiths about the discarded sand from <br />Mezes and Spînas Parks which was used at Marlin Park. He also inquired about <br />the outfill pipe at Marlin Park and its safety. <br /> <br />-MATTERS OF COMMISSION INTEREST <br /> <br />-Commissioner Davis inquired about the status of the Kiwan;s/4ger Field <br />Project. Director Griffiths said that no work had been done since the rains <br />began but that alternate sites at Woodside and Sequoia High Schools have been <br />arranged for Little League play. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Howard referred to the minutes of a recent City Council meeting <br />which spoke about a IIComprehensive Storm Management programll and she asked <br />Director Griffiths what he might know about this program. Director Griffiths <br />explained that under new Federal legislation, storm water will be treated and <br />re-used. This Federal legislation was passed without any type of funding <br />available to cities and will have tremendous impact on the City. The <br />nineteen cities in San Mateo County are looking into a joint storm management <br />program. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Howard mentioned that she received an invitation to Arbor Day <br />Ceremony presented by the Native Daughters of the Golden West on Sunday, <br />March 1 at 2:00pm at the CAB. She also said that the Veterans Memorial <br />Senior Center is celebrating their 10 year anniversary of the renovation of <br />the Center, anØ in preparation, are putting together a scrapbook book. If <br />anyone has anything which they would like to include in the scrapbook, please <br />contact Noreen Donohue at 367-8173. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli noted that the Native Daughters of the Golden West <br />received a proclamation at the City Council meeting on February 24 on <br />behalf of Redwood City.s Tree City USA Award for 1992. <br /> <br />-Chairperson Slusser mentioned an article in the TimesTribune regarding the <br />Belmont School District negotiations for a possible school site in Redwood <br />Shores. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was adjourned at <br />9:20pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 25, 1992 at the <br />Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, <br />California. <br /> <br />".;, ' <br /> <br />'-,' '-. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />- <br />
