i . . ITEM 3 - CPRS Conference Commissioner Davis will be attending the CPRS Conference in Long Beach on March 5-8. He said he would bring his video camera to tape events/vendors at the conference. Chairperson Slusser requested that Commissioner Davis bring back forms so he could order audio tapes of the conference. ITEM 4 - Park Tour Answers to the Park Tour surveys from the City Council were reviewed by the Commissioners and discussed. One of the issues discussed was whether to have a study session vs. a park tour. Director Griffiths pointed out that at the February 3 Budget Study Session. the City Council indicated their desires for specific projects, and a new Red Morton Community Center was high on everyone1s list. He said that currently $120,000 has been allocated for gym and roof repairs and a feasibility study will be done within the next 3-4 months for the building of a new Red Morton facility. The problem is that there are no funds available at either the State or Federal level to assist in the building of the Center. It was suggested that the Park and Recreation Commission corne up with alternative ways to finance the building of a new Red Morton Center. Commissioner Mortensen suggested forming a sub-committee of 2-3 persons to investigate other sources of funding. M/S Swope/Davis: To schedule a Joint Study Session with the City Council on May 2. Motion passed. M/S Swope/Truscelli: To set up a planning meeting in March for the Commission to work on matters to be discussed at at Study Session with the City Council. Motion passed. M/S Davis/Swope: To amend Motion #2 to have a planning meeting at 9am on Saturday, March 28. Motion passed. ~ M/S David/Swope: To amend Motions #2&3 to have a planning meeting at 9:30am on Saturday, March 28. Motion passed. ITEM 5 - Presentations by Department Supervisor Chairperson Slusser suggested inviting a department supervisor to a Commission meeting once a quarter to make a presentation regarding their program(s). MONTHLY REPORTS -Commissioner Howard commented on the Department's Satisfaction Guaranteed Policy and indicated that she is concerned about the number of refunds processed. -Commissioner Swope commented about Recreation Center Supervisor Jan Knight1s comments regarding the State1s child care requirements.
