~

\

-Superintendent Hartman brought a newspaper article regarding child care and
'how it is being affected by the recession. She was advised by Center staff
that the Kids Klub at Red Morton has only 25 children in the program at this
time but has a maximum of 60. Roosevelt Kids Klub has a maximum of 29
children and is full at this time and also has a waiting list.

-Superintendent Hartman mentioned that Recreation Supervisor Bill Wooten has
spoken to her regarding a big problem regarding IIdrop-inll soccer. It appears
as though year-round soccer teams have not been respectful of other groups
using the facilities and are not letting the fields IIhealll between sports.
She said that Supervisor Wooten noted this is also a problem in other
cities and Redwood City needs to figure out ways to deal with the increased
demand for fields for all groups. It was suggested that Supervisor Wooten be
invited to the May meeting to discuss this matter with the Commission.

The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was adjourned at
9:27pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, April 22, 1992 at the
Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City,
California.
