...

.

..

..

Some comments were received from members of the Union Cemetery Committee
about the qualifications of Peak & Associates. In addition. a letter was
received from Peak & Associates withdrawing their proposal for the Union
Cemetery project.

Mr. Aguilar indicated that he plans to go to Sacramento to visit the State
Library which has information pertaining to Union Cemetery and also would
like to meet with Melinda Peak to see if ,she would reconsider her proposal.
He felt he would be able to make some progress on the project and will report
back to the Commission at the May meeting with an update.

ITEM 3 - 4th of July Parade

M/S Howard/Truscell;: To have the Park and Recreation Commission
participate in the 4th of July Parade.

Motion passed.

M/S Swope/Howard: To have Chairperson Slusser fill out the PCA application
to participate in the parade.

Motion passed.

Chairperson Slusser will meet with Commissioner Davis to arrange a vehicle to
use in the parade and will report back to the Commission next meeting.

ITEM 4 - Red Morton Update

Superintendent Hartman said that staff has visited several sites and obtained
names of architects who have built these facilities. Staff is looking at a
facility which has minimum of 20.000-25.000 square feet. Commissioner Davis
felt that this concept needed to be sold to the public and that an overall
plan was needed. Chairperson Slusser said Director Griffiths recommended
that after staff was done with their research. one or two Commissioners would
then work with staff to help formulate a plan. Commissioner Swope said that
staff should not set their sites IItoo low" and that we need to meet the long
term needs of the City. Superintendent Hartman said that staff should have
their research completed soon and will report on this subject next meeting.
It was suggested that all Commissioners try to attend the May 4 City Council
Study Session with the Youth Services Committee.

Monthly Reports

-Commissioner Howard requested that upcoming events be listed on each month1s
agenda to keep the Commission apprised of upcoming events. Superintendent
Hartman suggested sending all Commissioners copies of the InterService
Calendar for 1992 which lists all types of events taking place within the
City.

-Commissioner Davis noted that the Civic Cultural Commission donated funds to
the Woodside High School Drama Program and asked about the funds available
for groups to use the Fox Theater.

.

.

~,
