40

..

I .

1.

'9

...

Matters of Commission Interest

-Commissioner Truscelli reported she and Vince prepared lunch for 125 people
at IILunch with the Bunnyll on April 11 at the Veterans Memorial Senior
Center.

-Commissioner Davis mentioned he was contacted by a member of the Los Altos
Park and Recreation Commission who went over a checklist/survey regarding
park policies and procedures. He mentioned that Los Altos had similar
problems/concerns in their community as we did in Redwood City.

-Commissioner Davis mentioned attending the IISweet Charityll production at
Woodside High School and how good it was.

-Commissioner Howard reported the Hoover School Clean-up was a great success
and that students and teachers also participated. She also attended the San
Carlos Park and Recreation Forum on March 28 and felt our Commission should
consider holding something similar in Redwood City.

-Commissioner Mortensen commented on the root problem on Redwood Shores
Parkway and noted that the work is being done right now. He also mentioned
the Umpires Tournament to be held April 25 at Red Morton Park.

-Commissioner Swope commented on her attendance at the Fox Theater meeting.
She was concerned about not having a formal agreement with Peninsula Center
Stage and felt the City needs to see some real signs that the Peninsula
Center Stage will be willing to work cooperatively.

-Chairperson Slusser said he also attended the San Carlos Park and Recreation
Forums which had an attendance of about 140 people. He said San Carlos
recognized the things that they could not do and then went on to discuss the
things they could do and prioritized those items. He noted that San Carlos
has many of the same problems/questions/concerns as Redwood City.
Chairperson Slusser felt the process San Carlos used for making decisions
might be helpful to us in our planning for the future.

-The Commissioners requested that Recreation Supervisor Bill Wooten be
invited to the May meeting to discuss issues relating to the playing fields.

The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned at
8:55pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, May 27s 1992 at the Community
Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California.

, '- " ,
, ' -. - .
