<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope said she was impressed at the amount of volunteers hours <br />donated at the Veterans Senior Center. She figured the equivalent of 7-8 <br />full time people are donated each month at the Center. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Hordness referenced Mary Ann Fisch1s report and the 27% <br />increase in revenue collected in 1992 vs. 1991. He asked next time that <br />comparative information from previous fiscal years be included in the report. <br />He commended Corinne Centeno on her efforts on the Drug Free Zone. <br /> <br />-Director Griffiths announced the Department filed out an application for the <br />1992 Take Pride in California Awards application for their development of the <br />Hoover School Park, Drug Free Zone and clean-up efforts of that area. <br />He mentioned last year the Department received an Honorable Mention in the <br />Take Pride in California Awards from the Department of the Interior for the <br />same project. <br /> <br />MATTERS OF COMMISSION INTEREST <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope gave the Commissioners an update on the work that has <br />been done by Management Analyst Ramon Aguilar and his volunteers. She said <br />all notebooks and pictures are being prepared for input into a data-based <br />computer program. This information is necesary to getting the Cultural <br />Resources Management Plan started. <br /> <br />-Nita Spangler gave the Commissioners an update in her efforts to locate a <br />statue similar to the Union Cemetery solder statue to aid in the replacement <br />or restoration of our statue. She estimated it would cost between <br />$20,000-25,000 to replace the current statue. <br /> <br />-Director Griffiths announced the presentation of bid proposals for the <br />replacement of play equipment at Jardin de Ninos, Red Morton Community Park <br />and Palm Park. Interviews with prospective bidders will be held on September <br />29 from 8:30am to 1:30pm. He asked the Commissioners to contact Sally <br />Hartman if interested in participating on the interview board. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was adjourned at <br />9:40pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Monday, September 21,1992 at the <br />Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, <br />California. <br />
