<br /> <br />. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />-Commissioner Hordness said Redwood City International is interested in <br />bringing an art exchange program to Redwood City on February 26. 1993 through <br />March 5, 1992. The program would involve 8 Chinese artists bringing 100 <br />pieces of art (painting and sculpture) to be exhibited and sold. There;s. <br />also a possibility of setting up art workshops with students at Sequoia and <br />Woodside High Schools. The Chinese delegation is also interested in sending <br />seven television cameramen to film a documentary on life in America. <br /> <br />MONTHLY REPORTS <br /> <br />-Commissioner Howard noted that the Civic Cultural Commission was contacting <br />the Volunteer Center of San Mateo County to obtain some clerical support to <br />assist with Commission business. She noted Jan Knight1s report regarding the <br />establishment of the IILaBerge Child Care Fundll and Mayor LaBerge requesting <br />donations to the fund in lieu of wedding gifts and noted the Child Care <br />Advisory Committee would be administering the fund. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope said she was very impressed with Supervisor Hannon1s <br />report that our Make*A*Circus event was the largest in Northern California. <br />She also commented on the casual laborer problem noted in Corinne Centeno1s <br />report. Commissioner Swope commended Supervisor Hernandez1s staff on saving <br />water during our drought situation. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness thanked Julie Hannon and Mary Ann Fisch for <br />referencing comparative figures for their programs in their monthly reports. <br />He noted the time spent by the City Manager at the Fair Oaks Community Center <br />and the Mayor1s generosity in establishing the IILaBerge Child Care Fundll. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli noted Supervisor Kucala1s report and the 1,819 <br />volunteer hours donated by seniors at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. <br /> <br />-Vice Chairperson Davis said he also appreciated the quantitative data <br />included in the supervisors' monthly reports and found the information very <br />informative. <br /> <br />MATTERS OF COMMISSION INTEREST <br /> <br />-Commissioner Howard inquired if Supervisor Wooten had spoken to anyone <br />regarding giving umpires the authority to remove players from the game until <br />they returned their dogs home. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope noted the editorial in the Sunday issue of the Peninsula <br />Times-Tribune and suggested the Commissioners individually write, fax or <br />phone Editor Kevin Doyle, with a copy to Publisher Robert E. Wood, <br />regarding this offensive article. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned at <br />9:15pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday.
