<br />ì <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness inquired about any problems which resulted from the <br />recent heavy rains. He mentioned Supervisor Hannon1s report regarding using <br />an intern to help out in the department. He also said he would like to see <br />more quantitative information in the supervisors. monthly reports. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Howard said she liked Recreation Coordinator Mary Ann Fisch.s <br />previous monthly reports where her expenditures and revenue collected were <br />noted and found it very informative. <br /> <br />-Chairperson Slusser said he would be interested in reviewing figure <br />calculations after they were gathered for the budget cycle. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Howard said she was amazed at the number of participants at the <br />Veterans Memorial Senior Center activities during December. She noted the <br />low attendance at the IIWe11nessu class offered and suggested sending flyers <br />to local doctors. offices to increase attendance. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Davis mentioned he also likes to see quantitative figures in <br />the monthly reports. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope asked if there was a resolution on the water consumption <br />reports noted in Park Supervisor Littlefield's report and Director Griffiths <br />explained it was still being worked on. She noted an increase in the number <br />of programs and participants in Mike Blond;no1s report. <br /> <br />Matters of Commission Interest <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness spoke about Arnold Friedman1s letter about replacing <br />the play equipment at Stafford Park. He said he stopped by Stafford recently <br />and spoke to a mother of 2 children about the park and its play equipment, <br />and said she had no complaints. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness said he had received comments from some people about <br />the lack of parking at the Fair Oak Community Center. Director Griffiths <br />said the parking area was expanded when the Senior Center was built and there <br />are no future plans to increase the parking area. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness announced Redwood City International will be <br />sponsoring an UArts in Chinall exposition featuring a showing of modern <br />Chinese art from February 28 to March 7 at the Library Community Room. A <br />banner will be hung over Broadway announcing the event and Chinese artists <br />will be going to Woodside and Sequoia High Schools to work with students. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Howard announced Mayor Buchan is looking for one person from <br />our Commission to serve as a judge for the 1993 Beaut';fication Awards. <br />Commissioner Trusce1li volunteered to be a judge. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness said he received a call from Civic Cultural <br />Commissioner Jeff Filippi who was requesting our Commission to write a <br />letter to the City Council expressing its displeasure at the billboard on <br />Highway 101 put up by the Downtown Association. The Commissioners all agreed <br />that they had no interest in sending a letter and wanted to let the matter <br />IIdieli. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned at <br />9:25pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Monday, February 1, 1993 at a Study <br />Session with the City Council to be held at the Library Community Room, <br />1044 Midd1efie1d Road, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br /> <br />, ... ... <br />
