J

T

Ruth Woolf of the Redwood City School District is organizing a representative
from each school to participate in the public hearing process. Director
Griffiths said child care programming people and therapeutic needs staff were
also brought into the meeting with Mr. Schtaz to discuss their needs at the
new center.

The Commissioners were given a space matrix from the meeting which gave some
ideas for the new center. Commissioner Nordness was concerned that all
interested parties would be invited to the March public hearing and that
their ideas would be included. Director Griffiths said the meeting would be
advertised in the newspapers and all user groups would be notified of the
meeting. Commissioner Barone suggested an active campaign be held to notify
a broad base of the City's population which included flyers to be available
at the Library and other City buildings. Director Griffiths said a
questionnaire is being developed for public input on the new facility.
Commissioner Davis was concerned with the tight time schedule for the public
hearing and wanted to make sure everyone's ideas were included. Director
Griffiths indicated Mark Schatz would lead the public meeting and staff would
help develop the format of the meeting.

ITEM 2 - Study Session with City Council

Director Griffiths said he heard favorable comments regarding the joint study
session with the City Council and appreciated the Commissioners informative
presentations. Chairperson Slusser said the subject of a park tour was
discussed at the study session and suggested a park tour be arranged. The
Commissioners agreed with the idea and discussed prospective dates for the
tour. The Commissioners discussed speaking to Mayor Buchan and Councilwoman
LaBerge regarding their ideas for a possible park tour.

M/S Davis/Truscelli: That the Commission invite the City Council to
a park tour on May 1,1993.

Motion passed.

Director Griffiths announced the public hearing for the new school/community
center will be held by the Belmont School District on February 25 at 7:30pm
at Nesbit School and invited all to attend.

ITEM 3 - Election of Officers

Commissioner Nordness said the Nominating Committee recommended the
nomination of Don Davis for the office of chairperson and Susan Swope as vice
chairperson. There were no other nominations from the floor.

M/S Truscelli/Berone: That the Commission accept the recommendations of
the Nominating Committee.

Motion passed.
Committee Reports

Commissioner Slusser asked that IICommittee Reports" be placed on the agenda
for March. He asked that staff review previous minutes to determine if there
are any committees still open on the Commission and the need to disband them
if necessary.
