<br />~ <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />I- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. ; <br /> <br />i i <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - Update on Gerry letzrlng Memorial <br /> <br />Commissioner Hordness reported that he and Commissioner Howard met with <br />George Blondino to review the possibilities for including a memorial at the <br />current Kiwanis/Mitchell Field complex. The ideas suggested were: <br /> <br />- Name the Kiwanis/Mitchell Field the IIGerry Letzring Memorial <br />Sports Complexll and place the sign near the entrance to the <br />fields. <br /> <br />- Name the scoreboard in Gerryls name. <br /> <br />- Establish a perpetual trophy to be located at the CAB for <br />the annual Little League Tournament and name the tournament <br />after Gerry. <br /> <br />- Place a sign with an inspirational message of Gerry's at the <br />complex for everyone to see. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hordness asked Mary Letzring, widow of Gerry Letzring, if she <br />had any suggestions or ideas on what should be done for Gerryls memorial. <br />Mrs. Letzring said she knows of several people who would like to donate to <br />the memorial. Commissioner Hardness said he will contact George Blandino who <br />has indicated the possibility of funding from other sources. The committee <br />will continue to meet and report back to the Commission. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - 4th of July Parade <br /> <br />Commissioner Truscelli said she and Commissioner Howard contacted William <br />Mann who said he will let the Commission use his car again in this year1s <br />parade. Commissioner Davis will make the banners for the car and <br />Commissioner Slusser will complete the entry form for the Commission. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - Youth Advisory Council <br /> <br />Commissioner Hordness said the next step of the Youth Advisory Council <br />process was to have a IIbrainstormingll meeting with all interested groups and <br />people in late Mayor early June. Commissioner Howard said she will be <br />attending a Childcare Coordinating Council meeting tomorrow and will be <br />making a presentation about the proposed Youth Advisory Council. <br />Commissioner Howard said she will check with Commissioner Berone for further <br />information since Commissioner Berone was ill and unable to attend this <br />evening's meeting. Commissioner Berone's information will be typed up and <br />sent directly to the Commissioners. <br /> <br />Roscoe Jennings, Vice Chairperson of Menlo Park's Park and Recreation <br />Commission, explained that Menlo Park ;s also looking at establishing a Youth <br />Advisory Council as a result of a Community Assessment. Mr. Jennings said it <br />appears Menlo Park ;s at the same point as Redwood City and ;s trying to <br />assemble all interested community members and groups. He was interested in <br />obtaining any information the Commission had assembled so far and will be <br />placed on our mailing list. <br /> <br />Committee Reports <br /> <br />Director Griffiths said that the June Commission meeting will be primarily <br />devoted to Union Cemetery. <br /> <br /> <br />
