<br />,. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. . <br /> <br />Monthly Reports <br /> <br />-Commissioner Howard congratulated Jan Knight and Vince and Pauline Truscelli <br />on the successful "Lunch with the Bunny" program. She mentioned the Civic <br />Cultural Commission minutes and the importance of Measures A and B which be <br />on the June ballot. She also mentioned the new play equipment at Palm Park. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness mentioned Supervisor Hannon1s report and asked if our <br />Spring Camp is cost efficient. Director Griffiths said the program is <br />profitable. He also mentioned Erlinda Tulioc1s report and the problems she <br />encountered on many of her trips recently and felt she should be commended <br />for her perseverance. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli said she appreciated Supervisor Knight's thanks for <br />cooking for the IILunch with the Bunny" program. She mentioned Supervisor <br />Oliver's report and the 225 volunteers honored at the Volunteer Recognition <br />Luncheon. She said the parks, ballfields and rose garden look very nice. <br /> <br />-Chairperson Davis mentioned the increased use of volunteers in Park and <br />Recreation programs and suggested training classes for those people who <br />supervise volunteers. He mentioned Supervisor Wilkman1s report on the <br />Redwood City School District not allowing our dog obedience classes to be <br />held at Hawes School any longer. Director Griffiths said he has been in <br />contact with the school district and will continue to negotiate with them <br />to continue to use Hawes. A temporary site for the class will be the old <br />police station. <br /> <br />Matters of Commission Interest <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness said he received a letter from San Mateo County <br />Supervisor Tom Huening regarding a map of bike paths in Northern and Southern <br />San Mateo County. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli shared with the Commissioners a IIGold Leaf Awardll <br />the Bonita Parlor of the Native Daughters of the Golden West received from <br />the International Society of Arboriculture for their outstanding arbor day <br />activities. She mentioned this was only one of two awards presented in the <br />Western United States and it was an honor to receive. <br /> <br />-Director Griffiths stated that the Forestry Section along with Park <br />Supervisor Jim Littlefield and Administrative Clerk III Beth Angeles will be <br />transferred effective July 1, 1993 from our department to the General <br />Services Department, Rights-of-Way Section. He advised the Commissioners <br />they will not be receiving a monthly report from Supervisor Littlefield after <br />July 1. <br /> <br />-Chairperson Davis mentioned the two Memorial Day Ceremonies to be held on <br />May 31 at Union Cemetery. The first ceremony held by the American Legion <br />will begin at 8am. The second ceremony held by the Historic Union Cemetery <br />Committee will begin at lOam. Chairperson Davis said he will be the Master <br />of Ceremonies at the lOam ceremony and Commission Hordness will fire his <br />cannon. All are invited to attend the ceremonies. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was adjourned at <br />8:55pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, June 23, 1993 to be held at <br />the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, <br />California. <br /> <br />
