The Com:rnissioners agreed with Chairperson Swope and Commissioner Slusser felt that we need to be able to address every issue that each property owner brought up. He suggested a physical visit to the site in order to become familiar with the concerns of the property owners. Superintendent Hartman suggested having the Dogs in the Park sub- committee (Davis and Howard) and Mr. Aguilar meet to discuss the matter and bring a list of recommendations back to the Commission. Chairperson Swope volunteered her assistance to the sub-committee. Chairperson Swope asked to defer Item 1 until later in the meeting. ITEM 2 - BELMONT SCHOOL DISTRICT UPDATE Superintendent Hartman said Director Griffiths indicated that the negotiations with the Belmont School District are ongoing and they hope to have an agreement finalized by the end of September. The estimated completion date of the facility is September 1997. ITEM 3 - PUBLIC HEARING ON AUGUST 18 The Commissioners were given a copy of a notice for the the public hearing on Redwood Shores parks on Thursday, August 18 at the Belmont Sports Complex from 7:00pm-10:00pm. From 7:00-8:30pm, there will be a discussion about Marlin Park and Shannon Way Playground. Plans for these two parks were developed in 1988 and need to be modified for ADA regulations and any other public comments prior to putting the projects out to public bid. From 8:30-10:00pm, discussion will focus on the development of a conceptual plan for the joint City/Belmont School District project at Sandpiper Park. Superintendent Hartman said Director Griffiths has suggested that perhaps the Commissioners would consider cancelling their August 24 meeting in lieu of attending the public meeting on August 18. The Commissioners discussed the matter and all agreed to attend both the public hearing on August 18 and hold their regularly scheduled meeting in August. ITEM 4 - JOINT MEETING WITH CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION Chairperson Swope said she received a letter from Civic Cultural Commission Chairperson Jeff Filippi who suggested a joint meeting of the Civic Cultural and the Park and Recreation Commissions.
