MIS Truscelli/Davis: To have a joint meeting with the Civic Cultural Commission and to have the chairpersons from both Commissions meet to establish the agenda and the meeting date. Motion passed. ITEM 5 - REVIEW OF PAGODA FOR VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING Superintendent Hartman stated that a retired City employee is interested in making a donation to the Senior Center in memory of her mother. A small portion of her donation will go to the purchase and installation of a structure for the Senior Center and the larger portion of her donation will be written into her will. The donor has proposed the purchase of a 20 foot pagoda/gazebo for the Senior Center as an outdoor seating area. After discussion and review by Park Supervisor Gibbons and Recreation Supervisor Kucala, a location has been selected next to the Veterans Memorial Senior Center facing Nevada Street. The Commissioners were given a color picture of the proposed structure and everyone liked the design and the concept. Commissioner Davis said he was approached by a man from a local service organization who indicated that his group would be interested in providing the volunteer labor to build a "snack shack" for Red Morton Park and perhaps some similar volunteer labor might be possible for installation of this structure. ITEM 6 - 4TH OF JULY PARADE Chairperson Swope asked that a letter be sent to Al Schowerer thanking him for the use of his antique fire engine by the Commission in the 4th of July Parade. The Commissioners agreed it was a good parade and they were glad to participate. Commissioner Davis said this year's parade was delayed several times and suggested that the PCA needs to let the public know when there are delays. It was suggested that people could be notified of parade dela ys through the announcers along the parade route. . , '"
