<br />." <br /> <br />l' J <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />Director Griffiths said he spoke with Don Warren regarding another site in <br />Redwood Shores for the maintenance facility and a site has been located near <br />the water tank behind the Pacific Athletic Clubt Director Griffiths will <br />continue to work on this issue and report back to the Commission. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - REDWOOD MORTON CENTER UPDATE <br /> <br />Director Griffiths stated the ground breaking ceremonies for Red Morton <br />were canceled due to conflicting dates in peoples' schedules and efforts will be <br />put into a dedication ceremony when the building is finished. <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope reported that she and Commissioner Howard attended a <br />very informative fund raising workshop on October 12. Copies of the <br />workshop handbook will be mailed out to each of the Commissioners for <br />their review. She announced the Peninsula Foundation will be holding a <br />fund raising workshop on November 17 entitled "Inspiring Individuals to <br />Give", Chairperson Swope said the October 12 workshop stressed the fact that <br />fund raising efforts need to be community-based to be worthwhile and get <br />more people involved. She felt fund raising meeting needs to be held to get <br />the effort started. Commissioner Davis said he will contact Chairperson <br />Swope to schedule a meeting. Commissioner Nordness felt we should invite <br />any groups who will be using the facility to our fund raising meeting. <br /> <br />Vince Truscelli expressed his concern about having the fund raising efforts <br />for the Red Morton Center and Carrington Hall running simultaneously. <br />Secretary Monroe reported on the Carrington Hall meeting held October 12 by <br />the Civic Cultural Commission. Commissioner Truscelli offered to speak to <br />various groups at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center to help raise funds <br />for Red Morton Center. Commissioner Nordness suggested having the <br />seniors donate proceeds from one of their bingo events towards the project. <br />Vince Truscelli said he would check with the Senior Advisory Council <br />regarding this request. <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis felt an updated "wish list" was needed to determine <br />what is needed at the new center. Chairperson Swope said we need to be <br />specific with what is needed at the new center to be effective in our fund <br />raising efforts. Director Griffiths will have Supervisor Hannon send out a <br />revised list to the Commissioners. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - JOINT MEETING WITH CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> <br />Secretary Monroe reported that at their October 6 meeting, the Civic Cultural <br />Commission requested to move the joint meeting with the Park and <br />Recreation Commission from November 30 to January 25. The <br />Commissioners decided to hold their regular meeting on November 30 and <br />to meet jointly with the Cultural Commission in January. <br /> <br />
