<br />'" <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - UPDATE ON COMMUNITY CENTER CONSTRUCTION <br /> <br />Recreation Supervisor Hannon gave the history of the old Red Morton <br />Center and the results of the feasibility study used to determine if the old <br />building should be renovated or to begin construction of a new building. She <br />explained the process that was followed in the development of the project <br />plans and the various public hearings and committee meetings that were <br />held. The Red Morton Steering Committee reduced estimated project costs by <br />$500,000.00 prior to going out to bid and costs are still being trimmed where <br />ever possible during the construction process. Construction of the new <br />building began in September and the anticipated completion date is Spring <br />1996. Supervisor Hannon reviewed the floor plan of facility with the <br />audience and answered various questions. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - FUNDING GOALS <br /> <br />Supervisor Hannon distributed a "Wish List" of items for the new Center to <br />the Commissioners and audience. Chairperson Swope spoke about possible <br />grant sources for the fundraising project. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - ORGANIZATION OF FUNDRAISING EFFORT <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis explained the organizational structure of the <br />fundraising effort will consist of four different subcommittees: Substantial <br />Gifts, Grants, Community Gifts, and In-Kind Gifts. He stated that also needed <br />for the project are subcommittees for Publicity & Public Relations, <br />Publications, Special Events. A Steering Committee consisting of a General <br />Chairperson, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Fund Raising Chairperson and an <br />Operations Chairperson are also needed. Chairperson Swope asked if anyone <br />would be interested in filling anyone of these positions. Pete and Paula <br />Uccelli have volunteered to be Honorary Chairpersons for the fundraising <br />effort. <br /> <br />ITEM 6 - P AR TI CIP A TI 0 N 0 PPO R TUNITIES <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser reported that he has filled out a grant request with his <br />company to obtain in-kind donations. He also is researching other companies <br />who offer similar in-kind donation programs. Chairperson Slusser offered to <br />chair the In-Kind Gifts Committee. Chairperson Swope stated she would <br />work on the Grant Committee. Commissioner Truscelli volunteered to chair <br />the Community Gifts Committee and offered to provide a dinner to help <br />raise funds. She will also target senior clubs and service organizations to get <br />their support for items on the Wish List. Chairperson Davis said he is <br />working on developing a brochure which would be given out to prospective <br />donors. Commissioner Nordness works for a company which will donate the <br /> <br />
