Chairperson Swope noted that Mayor Gasparini agreed to write a letter for the brochure. The Commissioners discussed ways to operate the "buy a brick" campaign. The Commission has been offered free booths at the Climate Best Fest and the 4th of July Festival to sell bricks. Commissioner Hughes suggested operating a beer booth at the Climate Best Fest as a way to generate funds for the project. Chairperson Swope and Commissioner Davis spoke about the need to determine what promotional materials each sub-committee needs so the Publicity can plan accordingly. Commissioner Davis said he is hoping to have a rough draft of the brochure at the March 1 meeting. The Commissioners discussed establishing a policy regarding the "naming" of rooms at Red Morton after people or organizations who donate large amounts of money. They also talked about the purchase of bricks or tiles and the different funding levels. This matter will be discussed further at the March 1 meeting. Commissioner Davis felt that we need to decide how funds will be directed, especially if they are earmarked for a specific purpose. This matter will be placed on the March agenda. He also asked about the "Roof Raising" kick-off for the project. Commissioner Truscelli announced that she is organizing a fund raising dinner on June 3 to be held at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. ITEM 5 - NOMINATIONÆLECTION OF OFFICERS The Commissioners decided to forego their normal practice of utilizing a nominating committee and nominating directly at the meeting. MIS Oavid/Nordness: To nominate Susan Swope as chairperson of the Park and Recreation Commission. Motion passed. Susan Swope was unanimously elected as chairperson of the Park and Recrea tion Commission for 1995. MIS Davis/Nordness: To nominate Pauline Truscelli as vice chairperson of the Park and Recreation Commission. Motion passed.
