11 PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF MARCH 22, 1995 CO MMIS S lONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Sw ope, Co mmiss ioners Hughes, Nordness, Slusser and Truscelli COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Davis and Morton GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli, Bert Peralta STAFF PRESENT: Director Peter Griffiths, Secretary Denise Monroe The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairperson Susan Swope at 7:35pm in Room 5 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the February meeting were approved as mailed. ITEM 1- BELMONT SCHOOL DISTRIcr UPDATE Director Griffiths invited the Commissioners to attend a joint meeting between the Belmont School District and the City Council on Tuesday, March. 28, 1995 at 7:00pm at the Belmont Sports Complex. The purpose for the meeting will be to approve the agreement for the community center/school project. Director Griffiths stated that the next step in the process will be for the Request for Proposals (RFP) for architectural services to be sent out and the hiring of a project manager. ITEM 2 - RED MORTON CENTER UPDATE Chairperson Swope reported that a $1,000.00 donation to the Red Morton Fund was received from Dave and Sybil Schutz which brings the total to $3,000.00 in donations received. Commissioner Nordness has obtained a commitment from his employer to donate the paper needed to produce both the small and large brochure for the fund raising effort. Chairperson Swope and Commissioner Davis will be meeting with an editor at SRI tomorrow to work on the brochure. Commissioner Davis arranged for a photographer to take pictures of recreation activities to go in the large brochure. A letter from Mayor Gasparini was received which will also be included. Chairperson Swope stated that there is a problem with the deadline for the brick program and the construction of the building. The contractor will need the bricks by the end of June in order to install at the front of the building but .
