<br />~ <br /> <br />-. <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Aguilar said he would submit the negatives of the repair project pictures to <br />the Archives Department to document the process for future generations. <br /> <br />Mr. Aguilar presented an application for Repair Project #2 for additional <br />repairs to be done at Union Cemetery and asked for the approval of the Park <br />and Recreation Commission. He noted this application has already been <br />approved by the Historic Resources Advisory Committee and the Planning <br />Commission. Mr. Aguilar stated HUCA is organizing a fund raising effort to <br />raise $24,700.00 to replace the Union soldier and $5,180.00 has been raised so <br />far. HUCA will be sponsoring a "Twilight Tour" of Union Cemetery on <br />September 23 from 7:00pm-9:00pm. This event was previously scheduled <br />earlier this year but was rained out. <br /> <br />Mr. Aguilar gave the Commissioners an update on the Cooley plot project <br />and stated HUCA is looking for a wood shop to complete the fence repairs. <br />He noted Jean Cloud will be contacting Sequoia High School to see if they can <br />use their wood shop for this purpose. Commissioner N ordness asked if the <br />high schools could be approached to have them repair the Cooley fence as a <br />community project. Mr. Aguilar said Mrs. Cloud is continuing to work on <br />this matter. <br /> <br />Mr. Aguilar mentioned vandalism has decreased at the cemetery and HUCA <br />has noted they have found less trash on the site during their weekly trash <br />pickup s. <br /> <br />M/S Davis/Truscelli: To approve the application of Repair Project #2. <br />Motion unanimously passed. <br /> <br />The Commissioners requested that a letter of appreciation be sent to V. <br />Fontana and Company to thank them for their hard work and effort at Union <br />Cemetery. Ramon Aguilar will draft the letter for Chairperson Swope's <br />signature. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - RED MORTON CENTER UPDATE <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope reported on the operation of the paver booth at the 4th of <br />July Festival and mentioned it was manned by members of the Commission, <br />City Council, and members of the community. She said it was a worthwhile <br />effort and raised community awareness of the project. Deadline for the <br />pavers is Friday, July 28. Supervisor Julie Hannon will be sending in an order <br />of pavers early next week and it will take 6-8 weeks for the pavers to be made <br />with installation scheduled for early October. Commissioner Slusser noted <br />Supervisor Hannon worked very hard with the architect and contractor to <br />extend the paver installation schedule the best she could. Chairperson Swope <br />said we have been offered the opportunity to have a booth to sell pavers/tiles <br />at the Climate Best Fest on September 15-16 and at the Dia de la Raza event <br /> <br />
