irrigation system was inadequate or if the School District was not willing to
irriga te the field sufficiently, then it would not be cost effective to proceed
with the project.

Due to a communication issue, the project never got started. Supervisor
Wooten explained he spoke to Mr. Dugish 3 to 4 weeks ago about the A YSO
letter and Mr. Dugish indicated A YSO is still interested in renovating
Kenned y and possibly Selby Lane School ballfields. Mr. Hartman of the
Redwood City School District has since retired and Mr. Norm Davis has taken
his place. Supervisor Wooten will be meeting with Mr. Davis at the end of
September to further discuss this matter. Commissioner Davis asked about
the cost to renovate Kennedy and Supervisor Wooten said it would cost
approximately $5,000.00 to renovate the field which would include seed,
fertilizer, and manpower costs. It would not include the cost of installing an
irrigation system for a ballfield.

Director Griffiths mentioned that Management Analyst Ramon Aguilar is
currently updating a survey that was done in 1990 to determine what it would
cost for the City to takeover maintenance of all school fields. Currently the
School District maintains over 60 acres of school ballfields throughout the
City .

Commissioner Davis reported he wrote a letter to Mr. Dugish and other
soccer people in Redwood City to recommend ways to recruit support the
issue of ballfield maintenance. He will send each of the Commissioners a
copy of the letter. Chairperson Swope asked if an agreement could be reached
with the School District to have them water the renovated ballfields.
Commissioner Davis offered to work with Mr. Dugish on this matter.

ITEM 2 - RED MORTON CENTER UPDATE

Commissioner Hughes reported the Cultural Commission granted $250.00 to
fund the cost of the band for the fundraising dinner / auction on October 26.
She gave each Commissioner four (4) tickets to either sell or purchase for the
event. Over 15 tickets have been sold so far and 48 to 55 tickets have been
given out to be sold by people on the Commission and the organizing
committee. She stated various restaurants have been approached to donate
food for the event. The only expense incurred so far has been $60.00 for the
cost of printing the tickets. She is still working on obtaining the Police Chief's
approval to serve wine with dinner at the event. Commissioner Hughes said
she made an announcement about the dinner/auction at the August 21 City
Council meeting and Director Griffiths made a similar announcement at the
Department Head meeting.

Chairperson Swope said over $20,000.00 has been raised so far for the Red
Morton Center Fund. A total of 124 pavers have been sold and
Commissioner Truscelli sold almost 60 of the pavers herself. A large order of
