<br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />l , <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness announced the Commission will be riding in a fire <br />truck for the 4th of July Parade. He suggested that Helen Morton, widow of <br />Red Morton, be selected as the Grand Marshall of this year's parade. Several <br />of the Commissioners will contact the PCA to support this recommendation. <br />Commissioner N ordness announced Red Morton will be inducted in the San <br />Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 23 at an awards ceremony. <br />Information regarding the ceremony will be forthcoming. Commissioner <br />N ordness brought in two articles from the San Francisco Chronicle. One was <br />a correction to a map of parks that are accessible to dogs in the Mid-Peninsula <br />Open Space District; the other was regarding a parents' group giving San <br />Francisco parks poor marks on the condition of their parks. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli invited the Commissioners to attend the annual <br />Arbor Day ceremony sponsored by the Native Daughters of the Golden West. <br />The ceremony will be held Saturday, March 2, 1996 at Red Morton Park and <br />will honor Geri Mayers. She announced Bonnie Miller of the Fair Oaks <br />Advisory Board received the Outstanding Volunteer awarded from the <br />Sequoia A wards Committee at a recent ceremony at the Hotel Sofitel. She <br />was also pleased to announce that Commissioner Ginny Hughes received the <br />Redwood City's Outstanding Citizen for 1995 award at a ceremony last week. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Hughes referred to the January minutes and inquired if a <br />letter was sent to the City Council regarding having a representative from the <br />Commission meet with staff to explore options to try and resolve the dogs <br />and alcohol in the parks issues. Secretary Monroe will check with <br />Chairperson Swope to see if the letter has been sent. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Hughes announced Irish Night to be held on Wednesday, <br />March 13, 1996 at Pete's Harbor House. Tickets are $20.00 each and all <br />proceeds will benefit Kainos and other local charities. <br /> <br />-Secretary Monroe reminded the Commissioners that their Form 730s are due <br />to her by March 24, 1996. <br /> <br />-Superintendent Seleznow announced Superintendent Sally Hartman will <br />receive a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award from CPRS at an <br />awards ceremony on Thursday, February 29, 1996. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned <br />at 8:10pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 27, 1996 to be <br />hel d at the Co mm unity Activities Build ing, 1400 Rooseve It A v en ue, <br />Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />
