He also referred to the City Council minutes of February 26
regarding review of fees in general and felt the Commission should take a
100 k at the fees charged at the Red Morton Center. Commissioner N ordness
noted a representative from the Oracle Corporation visited the Red Morton
Center recently and was very impressed. She suggested a presentation be
developed by next September for their gift giving program and noted that
Oracle does tutorial program funding. Commissioner Nordness gave each of
the Commissioners a copy of the YMCA fee chart and membership
information as a comparison to what is offered by the Red Morton Center.

-Commissioner Nordness announced the attendance year-to-date at the Red
Morton Center is 21,819. An average of 3,637 people are coming to the facility
each week. The last few weeks' total attendance was: 3,400; 3,528; 3,200; and
3,700 (which was the first week of charging fees to participants). The old Red
Morton Center averaged 60,00 per year. Attendance for drop-in adults during
the first 3 week period was: 437 first time users, 249 returning users, 146
non-residents, 5 employees, and 7 people with no ID. He noted people come
from all over the Bay Area to use the Center including residents of Oakland,
San Mateo and East Palo Alto. He noted a nice group of people use the facility
and there have been very few problems. He is very impressed with Julie, Jan,
and their staff. Many things are not problems due to the foresight of planning
the facility efficiently. The Commissioners discussed if there was an
"Emp loyee of the Month" program and Superintendent Seleznow noted the
City's program is not currently in use. Commissioner Hughes noted the
Peninsula Sunrise Rotary has a "Employee of the Month" program where
anyone from the Redwood City community can be nominated.

Commissioner Nordness thanked the various Commissioners who have
helped out at the Center. He suggested to Ian Knight that she notify the
Commission when she needs help at the Center. The Commissioners
suggested nominating Julie Hannon and Jan Knight in a City Council
proclamation for their work at the Red Morton Center.

-Commissioner Truscelli announced the Arbor Day Ceremony on March 2
honoring Geri Mayers was beautiful as well as the tree that was planted.

.
