,

"

ITEM 3 - CPRS CONFERENCE-SAN DIEGO

Chairperson Swope gave the Commissioners a written report of her
attendance at the CPRS Conference held in San Diego in February. She
reviewed the sessions she attended and the information she obtained which
she felt would be of assistance to the Commission. Chairperson Swope spoke
about the session on collaborative solutions for fund development and how a
Redwood City Community Foundation could be formed by the various City
Commissions and could be used as a vehicle for people to donate to. Speaker
Jill Moore of California Community Foundation discussed how her
foundation has helped local government bodies start endowments and
manages them using earned (not donated) income. Chairperson Swope said
she would talk to the San Francisco and Peninsula Community Foundations
as possible alternatives. She said she spoke to some City Councilmembers
who were enthused by the concept. It was noted that Pete Hughes had
previously mentioned that he knew an attorney that might be available to
work pro-bono on this matter. Commissioner Morton said he also attended
the CPRS conference and that he was very impressed and felt it was very
worthwhile and educational.

ITEM 4 - ELECTION OF OFFICERS

Chairperson Swope opened the nominations for the office of chairperson.

M/S Hughes/Morton: To nominate Pauline Truscelli as chairperson of the
Park and Recreation Commission.
Motion passed unanimously.

Nominations were closed for the office of chairperson.
