All interested people should meet at the <br />Municipal Services Center at 1400 Broadway at 8:30am where breakfast will be <br />served before the event. The clean-up will begin, a BBQ lunch will be <br />provided at 12 noon and the clean-up will conclude at 3:00pm. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Morton attended the "Great Gathering" Teen Conference <br />held at the Red Morton Center recently. He said it was a fun event and he <br />attended several sessions/workshops. He felt that a representative from the <br />Commission should have been requested to give the welcoming comments at <br />the event. <br /> <br />-Commissioner N ordness announced Red Morton will be inducted in the <br />San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame at a banquet on Thursday I May 23 at <br />6:00pm at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame. Tickets are $45.00 each and can <br />be pur chas ed thro ugh Denis e Monroe. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness announced he will be out of the country in May <br />and will not be available to work at the Red Morton Center. He asked if any <br />of the Commissioners might be able to help out during his normal volunteer <br />work hours of Monday-Friday 11:15am-2:0Opm. Please contact Jan Knight if <br />you can help out. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness announced there will be a Special Olympics Power <br />Lifting event at Red Morton Center on May 11 from 9:00am-4:30pm. There <br />will also be a Middle School 3-on-3 Basketball T oumament at the Center on <br />May 15 from 6:00-8:3Opm. Drop-in activity at the Center has shown an <br />increase in non-resident use. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope invited all to attend the 10th Annual Community <br />Leaders' Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, May 2 at the Holiday Inn, Foster City. <br />The event is sponsored by the Service League of San Mateo County and the <br />guest speaker will be Sam Huddleston. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli said she attended the annual Law and Order Night <br />at the American Legion where members of the CHP, Redwood City Police, <br />Fire and San Mateo County Sheriffs Departments were honored. She said it <br />was a nice dinner and was well attended. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli said she attended the City Council meeting on April <br />22 where Sally Hartman received a beautiful plaque for her service to <br />Redwood City.
