<br />.. <br />.. <br /> <br />~6 ~ Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of May 22, 1996 <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />She announced the first budget hearing will be held on June 17, with <br />Department reviews starting Saturday, June 22. <br /> <br />MONTHLY REPORTS <br /> <br />There were no monthly reports discussed. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope announced she and Chairperson Truscelli attended the <br />Special Olympics Powerlifting held at the Red Morton Center on May 11. She <br />mentioned it was a very supportive and enthusiastic event and that many <br />counties were represented. She noted that people were very impressed with <br />the new Red Morton Center facility. <br /> <br />Chairperson Truscelli announced there will be two Memorial Day <br />ceremonies at Union Cemetery on Monday, May 27. The American Legion <br />will hold the first event at 8: 15am and breakfast will follow at the American <br />Legion Hall. The second will be sponsored by the Historic Union Cemetery <br />Committee and will be held at 10:00am and she will be Master of Ceremonies <br />at the event. All the Commissioners were invited to attend the ceremonies. <br /> <br />Superintendent Centeno announced she was excited to be "coming home" to <br />the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department. She explained <br />to the Commissioners that she values customer service; believes in <br />partnerships; and that continuously improving our services in response to <br />community need is the key. She has no set plans for the department and <br />wants to get out and meet people. She encouraged the Commissioners to call <br />to arrange a meeting with her. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned <br />at 9:35pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, June 26, 1996 to be held <br />at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood <br />City, California. <br /> <br />
