<br />. <br /> <br />, <br /> : <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />..I <br /> <br />Park & ReC'reationCommission <br />Minutes of September 25, 1996 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Chairperson Piulle invited the Park and Recreation Commissioners to attend <br />the October 3 Cultural Commission meeting to further discuss the art work. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - COMMISSION FY95-96 ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND FY96-97 <br />WORKPLAN PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Commissioner Slusser agreed to make the presentation before the City <br />Council on October 7. The Commissioners reviewed their FY95-96 <br />Accomplishments and Commissioner Slusser will meet with Secretary <br />Monroe to finalize the list. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 . COST ESTIMATES ON "NO DOGS ALLOWED" PARK SIGNS <br /> <br />Acting Superintendent Mike Gibbons stated the park signs referencing "No <br />Dogs Allowed" would be 12"x18" in size and a minimum of 20 signs would be <br />needed for the parks. Cost would be $15.75 per sign. He stated we might wait <br />for the proposed ordinance changes to occur regarding alcohol use <br />(consumption to possession) before having the signs made. <br /> <br />MIS Davisl : To table this matter until the ordinance change. <br />Motion died due to lack of a second. <br /> <br />M/S Swope/Davis: To postpone this matter indefinitely. <br />Motion passed. (Yes-5, No-l) <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - UPDATE ON PARK DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS <br /> <br />Acting Superintendent Gibbons reported on the following park projects: <br />-Marlin fark extension is progressing; this is a 190 day project and the plans <br />are at the CAB for review. <br />-Shannon Wa PIa round was approved by City Council two weeks ago; it is <br />our newest park and has been well received by the community. <br />- R~ct Motion play area is a 60 day project and is going well; we are in the <br />process of replacing the fences of the homeowners backing up to play area; <br />project should be finished by end of October or beginning of November. <br /> <br />The Commissioners asked about the refurbishing of the Kennedy School <br />fields with A YSO. Acting Superintendent Gibbons reported that there have <br />been several problems with the Kennedy School fields such as trouble with <br />excessive rains during last winter and not enough water during the summer <br />due to a flaw in the School's irrigation system. He stated this year we will try <br />to overseed, aerate and fertilize the field more. Commissioner Davis asked if <br />staff could meet with Palo Alto Park staff to see how they maintain Greer <br />Field in Palo Alto in order to make Hoover Park fields look the same. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />
