BELMONT SCHOOL DISTRICT UPDATE <br /> <br />Acting Superintendent Gibbons reported the bid for the modulars has been <br />awarded and will soon be under construction. Commissioner Hughes stated <br />she is working with other Redwood Shores residents on the development of <br />the teen center in the new community center and invited the other <br />Commissioners to participate. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS/MONTHL Y REPORTS <br /> <br />There were no committee or monthly reports. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />-Commissioner Nordness gave out copies of a newspaper article featuring our <br />Accessible Recreation Program. He also handled out a schedule of upcoming <br />activities which will be held at the Red Morton Center. He stated that the <br />number of individual drop-ins at Red Morton Center from March 1 to <br />September 23 totaled 1,086 consisting of 60% residents and 40% non-residents. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Davis commented on the helpful and efficient Landscape <br />Maintenance crew of Doug Hawkins and Sharon McCauley during soccer <br />events at Hoover Park recently. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Hughes thanked Acting Superintendent Gibbons and his staff <br />for painting the Marlin Park bathrooms so promptly. She noted she passed <br />out literature on the Red Morton Center during the recent Redwood Shores <br />concert. Commissioner Hughes invited everyone to help paint the outside of <br />Helen Morton's house on November 9-10 as part of a Rotary service project. <br /> <br />-Pete Hughes invited all to attend a Redwood City 2000 Town Hall meeting <br />on Saturday, October 19 at 8:30am at the Canada College cafeteria. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Hughes announced a fundraising event for the <br />"Make-A-Smile" foundation on Saturday, October 5 at the Woodside <br />Mounted Patrol. Tickets are $20.00 each. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Swope announced the new Web page "Smart Voter" will <br />start October 1 and will feature candidates from San Mateo and Santa Clara <br />Counties running for office. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned <br />at 8:40pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, October 23, 1996 to be <br />held at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, <br />Red wood City I California. <br /> <br />, 1 <br /> <br />
