He also felt there
needs to be some procedural changes and discipline as a result of this matter.
Commissioner Nordness felt that due to the location of the trees, there was
some justification for their removal due to the potential safety hazard. He
said he disagreed with the assessment that it was safe to leave these particular
trees at Garrett Park due to his personal experience of having eucalyptus trees
on his property.

Commissioner Morton is concerned that the Park and Recreation
Commission was taken out of the loop in this matter and he would like to see
some corrective action so that this type of matter does not happen again.

Commissioner Slusser said he was also at the City Council meeting where
this issue was discussed. He said he has been charged with writing the
revisions to the City's heritage tree ordinance and that several changes will be
made as a result of this matter.

Gerry Benesch asked that the trees remaining in Garrett Park be protected
from removal and Park Manager Mike Gibbons stated that no further tree
work is planned at Garrett Park. Manager Gibbons also stated the City will be
replanting new trees at the same site with a neighborhood group on or about
April 15. Ms. Benesch stated she will be planting a row of eucalyptus trees on
her property which adjoins Garrett Park and will be dedicating them to Bob
Distefano.

Commissioner Davis agreed to write the letter to the City Council on behalf of
the Commission.

ITEM 2 -REDWOOD SHORES COMMUNITY CENTER AND SANDPIPER
PARK UPDATE

Commissioner Davis said he attended the City Council Facilities Committee
meeting with Commissioners Slusser and Nordness and felt that it was now
