He
confirmed that we will not know how much fund raising is needed until conceptual
designs have been completed for this project. Maddux Park renovation is not
scheduled until FY2000-2001. Commissioner Slusser reported he met with each of
the participants and he advised them they should continue to pursue the same type
of fund raising efforts they have been doing. He advised them that after the studies
are completed, a plan of action could be developed with the assistance of staff and
the Commission and then go to City Council. Manager Gibbons noted that Stacy
Stunes went to City Council to advise them of their fundraising efforts. As a result,
Mayor Hartnett requested a full report from staff and Manager Gibbons is currently
working on the report for Council. Commissioner Slusser suggested that the sub-
committee wait for the report from staff to determine the status of the CIP projects.

-Ad opt-A-Pa rk
Commissioner Nordness advised the Commission that he will be moving to San
Carlos and will have to resign his position on the Commission effective December
1997. A new chairperson will need to be assigned to this sub-committee.
Commissioner Davis asked for a report from Superintendent Hover regarding the
Adopt-A-Park proposal. Manager Gibbons reported that Sherene Cortez was named
the City's new Volunteer Coordinator and that we may be able to work with her to
recruit people for this program. Commissioners Davis and Hughes will meet with
Superintendent Hover and Manager Gibbons to discuss this program in further
detai I.

,
