<br />- <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of January 28, 1998 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />/ <br /> <br />-a restroom is needed near the play area <br />-install a changing table in the restroom design <br />-add a "backhoe" to the play equipment; kids love it <br />-concerned about sand and water mix; kids pouring sand will clog drains <br />-not excited about children getting wet due to water play areas <br />-are the water play areas used and well received by kids? <br />-make sure there is a path for strollers to get into and around the play area <br />-concerned with increased noise in park (from neighbor next to park) <br />-want to make su re this design does not adversely affect seniors <br />-didn't receive a notice for this meeting; send notices to everyone surrounding <br />the park <br /> <br />Commissioner Slusser said he wanted to go on record in support of the designs <br />and believes the citizens deserve nothing less than what is being presented. <br />Commissioner Davis said these projects are important to the adjoining <br />neighborhoods and community support is needed. Commissioner Swope stated <br />that the community deserves the best and agreed that community support is <br />needed. She reviewed the Commission's fundraising efforts for the Red Morton <br />Center to provide for items that were not in the construction/furnishings budget. <br /> <br />Manager Gibbons reported the Stulsaft project budget is $28,000 which is for <br />consultant fees; the estimated construction budget is $253,000.
