<br />, <br /> <br />'.. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />í <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25, 1999 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Vice Chairperson Davis, Commissioners <br />Joseph, La Berge (arrived 7:36pm), and <br />Swope, Truscelli <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Chairperson Morton, Commissioner Slusser <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Susie Peyton, Vince Truscelli, John Baker <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Administrative Assistant Denise <br />Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order <br />by Vice Chairperson Don Davis at 7:32pm in Room 5 at the Community Activities <br />Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MIN UTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the July meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />The Commissioners received an invitation to the 24th Annual Lathrop House <br />Heritage Benefit to be held on Sunday, September 19 at 4:00pm at the Redwood <br />City Elks Lodge. The 1999 event award winners are the Historic Union <br />Cemetery Association and the Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Department. Tickets are $21.00 per person; please contact Ken <br />Rolandelli for information. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - STULSAFT PARK UPDATE <br /> <br />-Consultant's ReportlWhat's Next <br />Superintendent Hover reported that the sub-committee met with the consultant <br />last week and that a preliminary draft report of findings was presented. The <br />document needs to be presented to the County and State regulatory agencies <br />and will be reviewed at a 3:00pm meeting on September 16. He stated that the <br />County will give us direction on any action that needs to be taken and a public <br />meeting will also follow. <br /> <br />-Fundraising Status <br />Susie Peyton reported that close to $70,000 has been raised and that as soon <br />as we know the status of the Stulsaft project, the fundraising efforts will be <br />resumed. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - REPORT FROM SUB.COMMITTEES <br /> <br />.Alcohol in Parks <br />Commissioner LaBerge reported the sub-committee is still working with the <br />Police Department and would like to meet with Chief Bolanos regarding the <br />Police Department's perspective on the issue; a meeting will be planned shortly. <br /> <br />
